GETTING XBOX 360 INFO...

Hello, I desperately need help as I'm about to throw my Xbox through my window...

So, I tried to play some Xbox 360 games on my Xbox One but it said I had no network and couldn't connect to Xbox live. I tried:

- Deleting and Reinstalling all the 360 games

- Wireless connection to router

- Wired connection to router

- Deleting Xbox One profile and redownloading

- Speaking to support

- Power cycling Xbox

- Restarting router

- Booting the game offline then going online

- Putting Xbox One IP in a DMZ

- Port forwarding (tricky btw)

and finally

- Cleared local 360 storage

Now here is the problem... it somehow managed to go and get worse...

I boot the game and get stuck at "Getting your Xbox 360 info..." and the progress bar doesn't fill up at all. Then after a while it completely fades to black and starts the game anyway but with no profile. There's no profiles on the 360 emulator (because
I cleared the local 360 storage) and when I try to download a profile, it tells me it cannot connect to Xbox live and tells me to test my connection. Xbox live works absolutely fine and I'm connected to Xbox live on the Xbox One. What is going on???

I have looked EVERYWHERE online for this issue and there has been nothing to fix my issue apart from a console update a year ago which fixed the issue for some people but now its back. Please help, pleeease help me for the love of all that is good. I'm about
to lose my mind.

Getting Xbox 360 Info...

So I've been attempting to play Skate 3 on my Xbox One.

So far, I get stuck at the 'Getting Xbox 360 Info...' screen for a few moments. Then I get a popup stating - 'Can't Sign In : A problem occurred while signing in. Please try again. If the problem persists, visit www.xbox.com/support'.

Then it starts up the game with me being unable to connect to Xbox Live or recover my Gamertag.

!!!!--------BEFORE ANYBODY TRIES TO EXPLAIN A FIX, PLEASE READ WHAT I HAVE ALREADY TRIED :

1. Clear Xbox 360 Cache from settings menu, then restart the game from settings menu.

2. Hard Reset Xbox One.

3. Uninstalled and reinstalled the game, numerous times after each fix.

4. Tried other Xbox 360 games, none worked.

5. Attempted to sign in with another profile, did not work.

6. Signed in on my girlfriend's Xbox One, worked just fine.

7. Called Xbox Support for 30 mins.

8. Partially restored my system to factory settings.

9. I also attempted to sign in through the Xbox 360 dashboard and it won't even let me recover my gamertag or connect to Xbox Live.

NONE WORKED. Nothing. The Support Service Staff was pleasant, but completely unable to figure out what was wrong with my console.

Nothing is wrong with my connection to Xbox Live on the Xbox One network settings. I'm using wireless and cannot wire my console.

 

Also, I just done a factory reset and this done nothing... same problem. I'm now going offline as it's 4:21am... dear god...

 

Sorry to hear about the trouble let's see if we can narrow down the issue.

When you spoke with support when steps did they try to help resolve this?

Also, when you factory reset the console did you keep games and apps or do a full reset?

If you create another profile or sign in with another profile on your console and attempt to launch the back compat game do you see the same results?

And, finally what happens if you try to download the profile on another network like a friends network?

When I spoke to support they had me reset my network, put the console in offline mode, delete my profile and redownload, do a power cycle and retry it. Didn't work.

I tried launching the game with another profile on my Xbox, also didn't work, same result...

When I factory reset I kept games and apps, didn't work, so I then tried a full reset and again, didn't work...

I haven't tried with another network yet. I can use my phone's data plan as a hotspot to connect to the console. That's the best you're gonna get as I have nobody nearby to try out their network.

 

Since all of those steps did not work the best course of action is to try the console on another network as it would seem that something is blocking that connection for the emulator.

Have you reached out to your ISP about testing another router and modem? There could be an issues with the modem itself that blocks the correct signal from reaching the console.

The Hotspot is not the best for the console but could be worth a try, if that still does not work we suggest reaching out to your ISP or when able taking it to a friend's house to test.

To be sure, do you use an external hard drive with the console and have you tried removing it and making sure the game and files are on the internal drive?

If none of these steps work a repair may be needed. You can register the console and then submit a repair request through your

account or through the
chat team.

 

Ok, update, done the hotspot thing, it worked. Sweet Jesus it worked. Now I've switched back to my normal wired connection... stopped working. Why on EARTH would it work for over a year with my network setup and then just straight up stop working?? I do
not get it... any ideas?

 

SCRATCH THAT! Ignore the previous comment, I have figured it out... so a while back I was messing around with my MTU settings, I configured a maximum gateway MTU size (data size) of 1280. I just upped it to a data size of 1500 and this seems to have resolved
my problem. Thank you for your help. Please pass this info on to anyone else who may be having this problem... it's a pain trying to identify the problem!
