    Getting Windows 10 edition free not working


    Been trying to get Minecraft: Windows 10 edition free for a number of years, and have contacted xbox, Microsoft, and mojang several times to try and sort it.

    Story time:

    When W10 edition came out, it was free for anyone with a current copy of the PC game.

    I claimed my code, but didn't have a windows 10 computer at the time so stored it for later use.

    When I did get a W10 computer, the store page said my code had already been redeemed.

    Don't know whether I had accidently tried to activate it or what.

    Spent a while chasing contacts through Mojang, then Microsoft and then Xbox, to try and sort this out through a chat window. Ended with that they would and would get back to me.

    Months later, still nothing, so try chasing them. Ends with I need a new code, will get back to me.

    So here I am, a few years after W10 edition came out, still trying to sort the problem.

    Just would like my code reactivated or to have a new one please.

    Hey there, SnappyBark0! Minecraft: Windows 10 Edition Beta is only available free for users that had the original Minecraft: PC (or Mac) Edition. If you only have the Minecraft: 360 Edition, you will not be able to get the Windows 10 Beta version for free.

    unable to use the minecraft windows 10 edition redeem code

    Dear Xbox Support,

    when Microsoft released the new Minecraft windows 10 edition beta, Microsoft allowed free redeem codes for players who have the Java edition of Minecraft for a free windows 10 edition Minecraft. I received the redeem code and activated the code. When I opened
    the windows 10 store and tried to buy Minecraft windows 10 edition it kept crashing on me so I decided to restart my computer, after I did that the store was working again but for some reason my code did not work so I couldn't get Minecraft windows 10 edition.
    It said I already redeemed the code, yes I did but it showed it was unavailable in my account so i couldn't get Minecraft windows 10 edition beta.

    I could just buy the game and that will solve my problem, but to me I think it is unfair. I owned Minecraft Java edition when 1.7.10 was out and like I said before I got the code it just wont work. the windows store said "free for players who own Minecraft
    java edition." That is why I wont buy it since I should have gotten it for free.

    What's on your Xbox would not be the Windows 10 Edition as that only works on PC. Did they give you a code for the Windows 10 edition?

    I haven't heard of any promotions with Xbox giving the Windows 10 Edition for free with purchasing the Xbox One version. There was a free upgrade from Minecraft: Xbox One Edition to the current version which is just Minecraft.

    Hi, the offer is only buy the java edition get the Windows 10 version free. It doesn't work the other way. If you want the java edition, you will have to pay for it.

    Will I get minecraft free on minecraft.net if I bought in on the windows store?

    As someone who has Minecraft for both Xbox One and Windows (both Win 10 version and the Java version) I can answer this.

    Poli5hesBubble: When the Windows 10 Edition (Windows Store Version) of the Minecraft entered public Beta in 2015/2016, owners of the pre-existing Java version were given a key to download and own the Windows 10 Edition (Windows Store Version) for free, as
    they already owned it for PC (in Java form). However, this does NOT work in reverse; if you bought the Windows 10 Edition (Windows Store Version), you will NOT be given a free copy of the Java version.

    KyleCBlanchard: Similar to the answer for Poli5hedBubble, if you own the Java version from Minecraft.net, you should be able to go to your Mojang account, log in and see a key that, once entered into the Windows Store or at redeem.microsoft.com, will allow
    you download the free copy of Minecraft: Windows 10 Edition for free.
