Getting wierded out by my star wars 360... randomly turning on and off

I've been having some issues involving keeping my console on as it keeps turning off within a few minutes of turning it on. When I turn it back on after a few seconds, it sets my resolution from 1080p to 480p. Well after a while of trying trying a few things
to get it to stay on (cooling it off, making sure it has proper breathing room, removing game discs from the console, wiping finger prints off of the power button, etc.), I started looking at the forums for an answer. 10 minutes ago, I just saw my console
turn on by itself and it's stayed on since then. Background updates are turned off and the auto-off function is disabled... what is my console doing and how can I make it stop? It's scaring me... T-T

xbox 360 consoles with kinect

hey people I was in walmart the other day and I noticed that there was a limited edition xbox 360 console with kinect, star wars edition that came with the kinect start wars games and had custom sounds when turning on/off etc with a 320 gig HDD are there
other consoles out there similar for other games or is the star wars edition the only one that there is?

Hey there, have you tried all of the following trouble shooting steps:
support.xbox.com/.../console-turns-off-unexpectedly

There might be an issue with your power supply so check that step closely, just to make sure.

That's where I checked first. It's been turning on and off a few times overnight and everytime it shuts off after I turn it on, the resolution is changed to 480p when I turn it back on. Also, when I leave it on the profile selection screen, it doesn't shut
off. It's only after I log into a profile and change the resolution back to 1080p that it shuts off again, but it does stop shutting off after I fight with it to stay on for about half an hour. If it were an issue about overheating, it wouldn't be staying
on and I have yet to have any form of red ring on the power button for the console. The power supply is showing no signs of issues from it and all automated functions other than game updates are turned off.

I figured out it's something around it that is causing my 360 to act like that. I took it over to another house and it didn't shut off over there once. Any ideas what would interfere with the 360 in that way?

I have the star wars xbox also! for some reason he will randomly turn on for awhile then shut off. I have cleaned it and done what everyone said but it is still doing it! It does not shut off randomly while I am playing, it only turns on randomly late at
night! sometime it does it a few times other nights maybe once and sometimes not at all. what the heck is going with my xbox?

i hope they dont come out with a next gen console i dont have the money for one and cutting off the 360 in my opinion will be a bad business decision for they just came out with the 360 slim just for it to be worthless i just got a $400 kinect star wars
360 if the next gen comes out then i am not getting it
