Getting someone else's gamertag

So on Xbox, my Gamertag has some numbers after it, as the original Gamertag (w/o the numbers) is in use, but it turns out that the Gamertag that I want is taken by an unused Xbox360 account. Is there any way that Microsoft could change or delete that account's Gamertag so that I could use it instead?

Does xbox have illegal auto sniping bots like minecraft does, or would someone have to manually claim the name?

That is good news except the last game the account played was released in 2009 and they only have about 2300 gamer score so I’m assuming it has been inactive almost entirely unless there has been a random sign in during the past few years, which would be unfortunate for me. The account name is .

A friend and I were going to switch names, with me taking theirs. However, they have an OG name. Is it possible that it could be sniped before I can claim it, even if I am watching carefully for it to be released?

If the owner doesn't sign into their Xbox account for 5 years, it'll be freed up. If they don't sign into their Microsoft account within 2 years, the account will be closed which should also free up the tag. Otherwise, the only other way it would be freed up is if the original owner changes it to something else.
