Getting rid of inactive accounts so those gamertags on those accounts will be available to use

I would really like if Xbox would get rid of inactive xbox live accounts that havent been on in a long time like 3+ years so those gamertags would be avaiable to use for anyone to use. A lot of people either havent been on in a long time and more in likely
sold their xbox so they have no need for that gamertag and the other one is people make free accounts and constantly make free accounts everytime the live runs out so they keep taking gamertags that other people would really like to change theirs to but they
cant because they do this. So if xbox could get rid of inactive accounts so those gamertags would become available then i know a lot of people would be really happy if this can happen so lets make this a known issue so this can happen.

Next-Gen Xbox to Make Old Gamertags Available?

What if you could get that old gamertag that's been inactive for years or never used? What if Microsoft allowed us to use the old gamertags or names that have never been used on Xbox with the next-generation Xbox? Some names haven't been used because they are used on other Microsoft LIVE services such as Zune.

I think it would be awesome if they had a specific time frame that inactive accounts would become available again after going silver. Say 6 months after its been silver/inactive, make it available to the public again. And you could keep track of how many times its been transferred owners like they have the numbers now for how many years you've been on Xbox LIVE.

 

Xbox Live account unrecoverable

I would contact Phone support to see if they can escalate it as a broken/inactive Microsoft account. If that comes back with a no then you won't be able to use that email address/gamertag until Microsoft goes through their system and makes those available
but there is not estimated time when that will be.

 

Microsoft is not going to read this, go send a suggestion or something. Unless you have a real problem, dont post here

 

No, they shouldn't. Just because someone hasn't used an account for a while doesn't mean they never will again, that account belongs to the person who made it and it should be their decision when to close it.

 

Gamertags are used on other services,not just xbox live so you can't know if a tag is being used or not.

The last time gamertags were released a lot of them were snapped up & then sold so Microsoft stopped releasing them.
