    Getting randomly connected to other people while in private chat


    Hey all,

    I had a bug happen that was quite disconcerting tonight, and wanted to report it and see if anyone else is actively having this issue. I found some Reddit discussion from a couple of years ago where people were having this issue.

    When I am in a private party chat with my friends (playing Forza 7)... I randomly can hear and speak to other people that are not in the private party chat both in lobby and in game. I can hear these other people, they can hear and speak to me, and I can hear
    my private party - but the rest of the private party I am in cannot hear these people. Basically it's like I'm randomly being connected to other people's chat's (roulette style, every 30s or so) WHILE simultaneously being in a private chat party. It's creepy
    and disconcerting, especially because these people appear to be able to hear me and have responded back.

    My friends suggested that somehow my Xbox Game Bar app was mis-configured and I was simultaneously connected to both public and private chat, but I see no such evidence, and no setting to indicate such a feature in the Game Bar.

    How do I resolve this? What is going on here, am I somehow being glitched in to public chat while in a private room? This is the first time it's happened to me, in a year or so of playing Forza 7 and using the Xbox Game Bar.

    Cannot connect to party when I have open NAT.

    I've gotten her to reset and yet it still hasn't fixed it, and she doesn't have internet running on her laptop, the biggest thing is this happens between me and different people randomly, like a while back i couldnt connect to my other friend but could connect
    to the friend im having issues with now, and that went on for a while. Then randomly it like flip flopped, I can connect to my other friend now, but not this one.

    My gamertag I thought of randomly one day and decided to change it. Occasionally I get friend requests/private chats from people that want to change their name to mine and I say, "Sorry, I'm taken. Try again later." as if I'm a robot that automatically replies

    To everyone talking about how party/private chat has ruined the spirit of XBL, I somewhat agree. While I do enjoy having a private conversation with my close friends during a co op game, it makes for a terrible option in versus play. I don't know many
    people who can fill up a whole team with people you'd want to have a private chat with while playing vs modes. My friends and I, we always leave party chat when we play versus modes.

    OP - You answered your own question as to why people join in private chat. It's less disturbing being able to talk to friends while avoiding the babbling idiots.
