Getting kicked constantly off of Xbox Live on Xbox 360

I have an awful networking situation, it seems, for my Xbox 360. My husband and I already tried a large laundry list of troubleshooting, and we were offered a lot of help from friends and people who seemed to know a lot about our problems.

The game I play a lot at the moment is Destiny. Initially, we swore up and down that it was their developer, Bungie's servers, causing error codes--followed up by getting disconnections from Xbox Live. Yesterday I found out that I am getting the exact same
issue on a different game called Sacred 3, that requires internet and Xbox Live to play. So clearly it's not the game(s) that is the problem, it is my Xbox 360. I would say that it is my ISP, but... as you can see in our Troubleshooting list, we've tried just
about everything to safely say that our internet has been ruled out as a problem.

Note that my husband has an Xbox 360 and is listed under the same ISP. We are BOTH wired from the same modem/router to our Xbox 360's.

Here is a list of all the troubleshooting we've tried.

1. Changed to NAT 1.

2. Configured our Xboxes so that we now have static IPs

3. Bought a brand spanking new cable cord and am wired from my Xbox into our modem/router directly (we thought initially that the wire was the problem)

4. We called Time Warner and they said that there were no problems on their end that they could see so they told us to contact the server of the games I have played, which I did already.

5. We tried turning our systems off and rebooting everything, including our modem/router/network but to no avail.

6. We ruled bandwidth out as a problem as we've tested it already.

7. Tried clearing system cache (more times than I can count).

8. Changed IP settings from Automatic to Manual.

9. Changed IP settings back to Automatic.

10. It appears Time Warner is not throttling our connection.

11. Already tried Bungie's network troubleshooting guide for the game Destiny that I frequently play, and it did not work.

12. We have UPnP enabled on our network.

13. Hooked up my old hard drive to a different Xbox 360 to see if my own Xbox 360 was the problem. Still having major issues with Caterpillar (the error code for Destiny) and getting kicked off of Xbox Live.

14. Uninstalling and reinstalling games did not help.

15. Called Time Warner (again) to see if there were any Packet Loss or Latency issues. There were none.

16. Apparently I just found out that I have this same problem on multiple games that require Xbox Live to play. I keep getting booted from Xbox Live even when I play Sacred 3.

17. Firewall is not an issue, we checked it several times when checking for other problems.

18. I called Motorolla, and they helped me with my Port Forwarding. I now have it and I checked it several times, it is correct. Nothing has changed, and I still get booted off of Xbox Live.

19. I had two Xbox Live representatives check into my account. One noticed that my Profile was corrupt, so I deleted it and downloaded it again. Same problem. Another Rep asked me to do the same thing--delete and redownload, still nothing worked.

We're at our wits end here. I have literally been trying ALL DAY (and the past MONTH) to get to glean answers. It feels like we keep reaching for something that's not even there. I am sick of trying, but I really want to get to the bottom of this. It has
become frustrating, but I'm wiling to try anything different. Any and all help, from the bottom of my heart, is truly appreciated.

:)

If you mean you are playing Call of Duty: WW2, there seems to be some server stability issues right now (at the time of this posting). The only thing to do is to wait it out until things are back to normal.

You can check the latest status of the Xbox Live servers here: http://xbox.com/status

You can also check the server status of various Call of Duty games here (they seem to be reporting an issue too): Activision Support

Getting kicked constantly off of Xbox Live on Xbox 360

Greetings Aveilthe!

Appreciate if you can post up the make and model of your modem/router (combo?).

It is most likely that your modem/router is unable to support more than one Xbox console, connecting to Xbox Live. Even if you don't have them connected simultaneously, the problem can still occur.
Configured our Xboxes so that we now have static IPs

I called Motorolla, and they helped me with my Port Forwarding. I now have it and I checked it several times, it is correct.
This solution will
not work, as you have more than one Xbox console which compete over the very same network port (3074) for Xbox traffic. The only solution is to use UPnP (Universal Plug and Play) and not manually forwarding network ports for Xbox Live. Now, It's important
to understand that the UPnP stack works somewhat differently between different make and models of router/NAT devices.

First things first, post up the make and model of your modem/router so we can more easily determine if this device support multiple console support.

Thank you for the response!

It is a Motorolla Arris, SBG6700-AC. According to the packaging, it was supposed to be compatible with gaming consoles... as for multiple, I have no idea.

You're the first to have noticed that. What solution would you suggest? We're still learning a lot. Should we not have static IP addresses? Before, we were told we needed them...

There's no need to have statically assigned addresses, since (in conjunction with Port Forwarding) you can't manually forwarding the same network port (3074) for respective console. That's the fundamental rule when you are manually forwarding network ports
towards a specific service on your LAN/subnet.

Since previous series of the Motorola SBG6xxx (Arris firmware) have been confirmed to not support multiple consoles, the chances are that your SBG6700 device might follow the very same path.

The only way for you to test this is to have both consoles set to obtain IP information automatically, and to make sure UPnP is ticked enable. Make sure Port Forwarding/Virtual Server is disabled, along with DMZ (if this has been configured as well).

You may also make sure to uncheck the boxes for 'Enable Firewall' and 'Enable DoS Attack Protection Firewall' under 'Firewall' settings.

Before you go ahead with UPnP, as the only feature to automatically forwarding network ports, untick the checkbox for UPnP and reboot your gateway. This will delete the map table for UPnP. When your gateway has full connectivity, sign in to the user interface
and re-enable UPnP and once again, reboot this device.

Let us know how that goes.

Welp, after contacting a Motorolla Arris agent yesterday, turns out you are 100% correct. Our modem/router can only handle one gaming console at a time. On the packaging it said that it is a high performance gaming modem/router, buuut... it never said anything
about multiple consoles. And what we need is a modem/router that works with multiple consoles. So we're gonna try and return it ASAP.

I'm glad you mentioned it or we would have never contacted the guy. Thank you.

9. I'm curious about this because I am having the exact same problem with Sacred 3 (constant disconnects). I've looked around for some answers and this thread seems to have the most plausible explanation even though I don't have the same router (mine is the
Linksys WRT54G2).

Aveilthe - Is the problem restricted to just the games (Sacred 3, Destiny) you mentioned?

Void Ruins - When you say that a router might not support multiple consoles, does that mean any console including non-Xbox ones?

@Aveilthe - I would be careful having your ISP making their own choice of gateway for you.

For best performance, ask them to deploy you with a standard modem, and get yourself your own choise of router, and which are verified to work seamleassly with two, or more consoles, connecting to Xbox Live.

If they don't have the standard modem as an option, ask them for a gateway which at least can be configured to be operating in bridge mode (for future reference).

@B449JJ7WJGJCTYK - If you haven't already, please go ahead and start a new thread with a detailed description of your situation.

TIA!
