    So I am trying to get my xbox 360 to connect to the internet by plugging in an ethernet cable from the xbox to my laptop. I've seen a youtube video of someone merely turning on "Internet Connection Sharing" with the xbox connected to a laptop via ethernet and then restarting the xbox and boom signed in to xbox live. However that doesnt work for me and I get an IP address error on my xbox and my computer when I diagnose the issue. I get the message "'Ethernet' doesn' have a valid IP configuration". I've been attempting to look for a solution for hours and hours with no luck. Any ideas? I have no issue with providing error report numbers or whatever they are.

    Hello again, unfortunately it is not possible, the equipment (console) will need a network adapter to connect to any network.

    In case your 360 only comes with the internal network card, so it will have to be connected to internet by network cable.

    Ah sorry i forgot to provide an important detail, I have the first xbox 360 without a built in wifi card and I dont have an ethernet cable long enough to connect it to my modem (also dont have the usb wifi receiver either). Is there any possible solution for my scenario besides bridging?

    Hello Exodus27, this is not affecting because the PC does not have the ability to provide an IP address for the Xbox to connect to the network.

    Even if you set up an IP manually on Xbox and then PC, it would need to be connected to the internet over wi-fi so you can pass the network to your PC and Xbox.

    If you have both devices on your home network, turn on the console's WI-Fi and connect it to your home network that it will automatically acquire an IP address through the network's DHCP.

    Xbox 360 won't connect to Xbox Live, but the Xbox One works just fine...

    could you run a live Connection test on your 360 and check which Kind of error it Shows?

    like mtu error, icmp error, ip address error or similar?
