Getting Free Games other then games with gold?

I tried searching and didn't find anything and this has happened to me more then once, but has anyone received free games. I'll turn on my xbox and it will say that (a game) has be downloaded and is ready to play, when I didn't buy it or get it from games
with gold. I'm not complaining, I like getting free games, but I would like to know whats going on.

Gamers are getting so needy and think they're entitled to freebies for being loyal or for some other excuse. I've been with MS since the original too and in no way do I think I should be getting free stuff. As long as there's good games coming out then I'm
happy with that.

Hey there, maybe it would help if you listed the games you're speaking of?

Are you a part of the dashboard preview for the Xbox One? Are they backwards compatible games from the 360?

There was this one time where people were getting The Evil Within free, but when they tried to start the game is told them to insert disc or purchase so not sure why that happened.

 

If this is on the One it's possible someone else has your console set as their Home console. You would download anything they are downloading.

 

This is all on the Xbox One. I have received shadows of Mordor in Mid April. Also I received The taken King DLC last week. Nether of these I owned on the 360. Also I have access to the game and have played quite a bit of the games. I'm the only account
on the xbox, no one has logged into their account on my xbox.

I reckon if free games started coming my way... somewhere near the last thing I'd do - is draw attention to it for fear it might stop. Heh ha. It's cool that whomever is selecting your freebies has good taste in games.

Getting bad free games is worth bringing to the attention of a public forum. Cos meh, nothing to lose. Seriously if I were you I'd be checking my purchase history.

 

OP hasn't mentioned whether or not the Xbox was purchased new or pre-owned. If it's pre-owned, then it's likely the previous owner never bothered to do a reset and that Xbox One is still set to their "Home" Xbox.

Would explain 'random' downloads of games and full access to them.
