Getting "For this game, you need to be online", even though I am online and I own ...

I'm signed into another console that is not my Home console -- and connected to Live (I see my friends online and the online dash), and even though I own the game, I am getting this error message "For this game, you need to be online." It happens for Minecraft
and Destiny, but not for Peggle 2, Guacamelee, or Titanfall.

In order to share his games he would need to set his account as Home on the console you're playing on or you would need to have his account signed in while you play.

 

Will there be a transfer cable for One X?

My wife and I each have our own console and we game share. She plays on my "Home" console, I play on her "Home" Console. She doesn't have Gold and as far as I can tell, she'll never need it. Not sure why you'd need to "buy him gold for his console"? My wife
has access to all of the games I've purchased/own digitally and since I have shared Gold, she has access to all the online MP features as well. We play the same games together online, all the time. They automatically download to "my" console when I purchase
them on "hers".

Unless your son has purchased or already owns games under his own Gamer Tag, he shouldn't need a Gold account to play any games you own... even online MP. If there is a game he wants that you don't want to play, you can purchase it with your account and
it will download to both your console (his "Home") and his console (your "Home"). The only time there would be a problem is if you lose internet service. You can't play your games on someone else's home console in offline mode. If you play offline, it has
to be on your own home console. In that case, you would have a problem because he technically wouldn't own any games since they've all been purchased by you.

 

It's happening now for my other games, too. It's like the service is failing the license check.

 

Soft reset of the console didn't help, but a hard reset did (unplugged power).

 

So to confirm: this issue is now resolved after performing a power cycle?

Power cycle = turning the console completely off, including unplugging the power cables.

 

Sad to say, this is not a reliable fix as I am now having the same issue and have done a hard reset now for the third time.

To be clear, I am also not on my home console at the moment. Any other ideas? Because it's really running my patience thin..

 

I am having the issue as you zero297. It appears that the xbox live services are currently at "limited" and they have been trying to fix the problem for a while now. Just google xbox live status and you can see.

 

Seem to be having the same problem. Trying to watch Netflix and literally every 60 seconds it cuts out to give me this message, but then I can immediately get back into it as if nothing happened. Made my xbox my home xbox, tried soft and hard restart..nada.
Pretty baffling problem, can't seem to get around it, hopefully someone finds a solution soon cause of it cuts out mid sentence again there may be multiple homicides.

 

I'm getting the same thing. Ito not letting me play fallout, keeps kicking me off. But my husband is in the other room playing with no problems.

 

same here, every 60 seconds watching netflix, cuts-out. I made it my home xbox, tried soft restart, am signed in to live, see friends list and activity feed...annoying

 

I'm having the same problem as sknnygrltrckn. My bf is playing right beside me just find but I have nothing but error codes

 

Having the same problem with every app and game. Anonymous strikes again.

 

Change the account password. Had to do 2x already

 

still having this problem anyone have a solution it only does this to black ops 3 not nba 2k16
