getting double charged

When you try purchasing with a credit or debit card, we will put a temporary $1 charge on the card. This charge will later be refunded. Is this what your dad saw, or was he seeing a full charge for LIVE? If you were double charged, please contact phone support
in your region (support.xbox.com/.../contact-us.aspx).

From the menu bar at the top of the page choose "My Xbox" and then "Accounts." This page will show you the "Renewal Date" for your account. If it is double what you expected, then you have been billed both times.

Whether or not you can cancel the "extra" subscription (if you were in fact billed twice) is a question I cannot answer. Someone else may know, or, you could place a call to Xbox Support and ask them.

Ive had this issue a few months ago. Usually after the order is done processing the double charge will drop. IF both charges get finalised in your bank account THEN you'll be able to dispute the extra charge. Your bank recommends you go through the merchant
who doubled charged you and the merchant or xbox in this case cant address this issue until are charges are final. It can take up to 5 days for your charges to finalize. Im not sure if thats where your at but if the charges are finalized in your account microsoft
can do something at that point. I was worried when i was going through this because the double charge overdrafted my account, but after the double charged dropped my account went back to normal and i was not charged an overdraft fee.

Ok I used Google and finally was able to contact someone. As far as they can tell, the problem is on the PayPal side so I will now contact them.

I would first recommend
removing any payment instruments that you may have on your account, as well as perhaps

updating your security information on your account to make sure to prevent this in the future.

Additionally, you would have to request a refund through the
Refund request form, as we here on the Xbox Forums nor Xbox Customer Support, have the tools to assist you with this directly. All refund request are handled by the Refund Department, and filling out that form is the best way to reach them.

If you are having difficulties with performing this, you can reach out to
Xbox Customer Support so that they may guide you on making these updates. You can request a call by following these steps:

1. Log into Xbox.com
2. Scroll down to the bottom of the page and select Support.
3. Scroll down and select Contact us.
4. Select Billing & accounts.
5. Select See other options.
6. Select Charges on my account.
7. Select Show contact options.
8. Select Request a call from Support.
