Getting DDosed please help

I have recently been being ddosed offline by another player on xbox 360 and I cant do anything about it at the moment and I need help with what actions I can take against him. If any sugestions please contact me as soon as possible. Thank you

I keep on getting DDOSED on xbox live.

I can't play normal games anymore...

In order to DDoS you, the person needs to find your IP address. They do so, by tunneling their Xbox console through their PC, which shows him, to which IP adresses the console connects to, i.e. the IP adresses of the players against which that person is
playing.

If a DDoS attack is taking place, leave the current multiplayer match, and restart your router, which usually gives you a new IP address. So the DDoS attack is "moved" away from your new IP address.

Then, use the console's feature to block this player from contacting you. Xbox Live will try to not match you with that person into a multiplayer match. Without a direct connection to you, be it via a Xbox Live Match, Party chat, or other applications like
a skype call or instant messenger, the person can't usually find your new IP address.

So make sure you simply don't play or get in contact with that person, and they can't get your IP to DDoS you.

And as Smwutches already recommended: Report that gamertag to the Enforcement Team via the console's reporting feature. Do NOT try to fight back yourself! You will only make yourself visible for additional DDoS attacks again if you contact that person!

Then try turning your router off for two minutes and restarting. This should fix your internet connection.

Also you should consider contacting your ISP. What you describe is illegal and they should take it very seriously, as it is an attack against their network.

MONDO please follow through with the above advice. It will most certainly set you on the right path and remedy any issues you are having. Be sure to file that complaint, the report will be sent off to the PET (Enforcement Team) and they will conduct a very
thorough investigation and take the appropriate action necessary once they reach a conclusion.

 

I've also heard that changing IPs isn't that hard to do. I'd assume the level of difficulty would be dependent on who your provider is. Not sure if that helps you any at this point, but hey, it's out there

 

Most people have what is called a Dynamic IP. This means it changes every time you connect to the internet or reset your router. This will give you a new IP address.

In some cases you'll need to contact tour ISP in order to get it changed. If your IP address remains the same no matter what then you have what is known as a Static IP. These aren't usually issued to home customers but to people and companies who run their
own websites.

DDoS attacks are therefore far more of an issue for the latter.

Edit: I know that is a simplification but it holds true for most people.

Yup. everyone I know has a Dynamic IP in the home, here in the UK at least, but I have also been told it's better than Static,

 

Mine is Dynamic. Tested it last night using a site that shows you your own IP address. Much rather be Dynamic then Static given the effects you can suffer if attacked on an address that doesn't change :/
