Getting Connected in a Hotel?

Hi all, I sped a lot - really a lot - of days living in various hotels, B&B, Cottages. Unfortunately, quite a few of them are the kind of open WiFi network, but then you have to open a web page, to log on with your voucher / log in (Such as in Travel lodges,
Premier Inn, ....). Of course I can connect to the network, but then the Xbox check the internet connectivity and ... oups ... It's like no internet.

I can't just connect, then go on explorer to access the network.

Has anybody came accross this situation and found a solution?

problem getting connected once connected it disconnects in the middle of the game, and also am not receiving any rewards once community goals are reached. Whats going on?

Even if you could connect with the I.E. To gain access to the hotels wifi welcome page.

You still would not be able too game online. It's for security

 

? All that is needed is internet. Plug an play. If you can access explorer, you should be able to use the console.

Pay for the internet service in the hotel and all should be fine. (I maybe wrong)

The only solution is the use of a laptop. You connect to the Wi-Fi with the laptop then 'bridge' the connection to the console.

^^^^Probably your only option. I have had the chance to connect a 360 to a hotel network that did not have the sign in page you are talking about. Instead they just setup a password like you would at home. The connection was terrible though. Anything other
than just signing into live wasn't worth it because of it.

 

Beside sharing your computer's Internet connection, you can simply use/spoof the physical address (MAC address) of the authorized computer and use it as the alternative MAC address for your console.

Hotel's often use 802.1x for their WLAN's, which is an authentication protocol, not supported by the Xbox 360, nor the Xbox One.

The IE app on your console won't work without connectivity to Xbox Live.

I would suggest trying what Obsessive Power said. If that doesn't work, (Such as the case for me), you can download a program on your laptop called Connectify. This program does cost money, 25 dollars for 1 year or 40 for life (Which seems like the better
option for you if you travel a lot). This program allows you to turn your computer, which already has internet access, into a Wi-Fi hotspot. So what it essentially does is grab the Wi-Fi, and throws it back out, removing the need to sign into a browser before
accessing Xbox LIVE. I used this method throughout all of last year without a hitch. Hope this works for you!

Alternatively, doing what taidara mentioned about spoofing the MAC of your 360 to look like it's the laptop (Or iPhone, which I did before purchasing Connectify), also works.

 

First of all, I'd like to thank you for all your posts.

I tried to shadow my MAC address, didn't worked, even if I tried with the ":" and the "-" syntax, but I have to say that it should be working ... maybe some kind of security of the hotel's network?

(Despite I tried with my laptop switched off).

The bridging Idea, I haven't, as this is a Corporate laptop, I have quite a few settings that I can't modify.

I tried "Connectify", it is actually even cheaper than ever, $19.50 for a lifetime 3 user licence ....

And it works great, if you want to use Skype, Netflix, any apps, ... witch is great for me, as My main concern was Skype in HD (don't ask why...)

Strange part is that I can't access to Titanfall , it says that their is no internet, and I tried to play to Watchdog, the Xbox want an update for the game, but when the update starts, it comes to the sane than for Titanfall .... No internet ...

If some of you understand my post, and the situation .... Any help will be much appreciated!
