About a week ago I was playing the black ops 1 with a couple of my friends for a nostalgia trip and happened to run into some trash talking hackers (I understand that its a decade old game and that there's going to be people like that) Anyway, the kid started
getting a bit out of pocket with some of the things that he was saying to one of my friends who happens to be a female. So she just stopped talking to him. Usually that's the end of the story for encounters like this, but I guess this guy thought he was hot
[mod removed] and started saying that he was going to make a private lobby and if she didn't join him then he would boot her offline and mess with her router. After about two rounds of TDM he said something along the lines of, "ok if you're not going to talk
to me I'll boot you offline" and sure enough about one minute or so after he said that, she got disconnected from XBOX Live. We all reported the guys gamertag for system tampering, and blocked him. She disconnected her router and restarted her Xbox. After
trying for about thirty minutes she was finally able to get back online only to be messaged by him again, saying the same thing. She joined his private lobby and told her that if she played with anyone else that he'd boot her offline again. She tried contacting
the help desk to get this resolved, but the Microsoft personnel that she was having a live chat with left the session and didn't do anything to help. I'm not trying to [mod removed] on any of the people at Microsoft that deal in this department because I understand
that everyone is a bit extra stressed with this Corona Virus epidemic going on. I'm just wondering if anyone is able to point me in the right direction to get this resolved.

P.S If anyone is trying to take a trip down memory lane by playing BO1 try to avoid a player with the username [mod removed], he might also be playing on his other account [mod removed]

it's a DDoS attack.

they get the IP address by monitoring connections to the chat.

in future ignore messages and invites from him and he won't be able to get the IP

it's easily fixed by restarting your router to get a new IP (turn it off at the wall socket and unplug the power for 5 to 10 minutes).

although if you have a static IP you will need to contact your ISP to get a new one.

this FAQ explains all about it and what you can do (such as reporting the player to Xbox Enforcement for Tampering)

Since you've already reported him, the enforcement team will investigate them and take the appropriate action there. Otherwise, your friend would want to contact their ISP to report the issue as well since the attack would have been through their internet

That is said, but in this case i don't understand why the gamertag of the "kid" was removed.
