Hi there, I don't think there is a need to reset your router. If you want you can try using an ethernet connection if you are worry about the signal dropping during the update download. You can look at this link for setting up your console

support.xbox.com/.../console-setup it's a step by step once you get it on how to set it up. Here is another link for when you connect to live for the first time with the X1
