Getting a bit irate having bought XBox One and being trampled on

To be fair its always been this way, something new releases the older version is heavily discounted e.g. the games you mention to encourage people to still buy them over the new iteraration, over time the 360 will get less and less new releases while its
phased out but they need to still support it short term to give the user base the time to move over to the one.

The 360 has been out over 8 years so masses of content for that reason, and it continues to get alot short as it has a big user base so it makes business sense right now, the transition will happen gradually.

Its also worth remembering games for gold is relatively new and the 360 didnt have this until fairly recently, i personall am happy that they plan to give us this added bonus earlier on in the ones life cycle than they did with the 360

Keep your one is my advice, ive bought a console on launch before traded then wished i hadnt gone through with it and ended up buying it again. (It was the PS3 with me, got it at launch wasnt happy with features/games compaed to what i had on the 360, traded
it, drakes came out, had to get another)

I can see where you're coming from fist. However it is early doors just yet. What is worrying me is it looks like Microsoft are being left behind by PS4. I for one am gutted. But the facts speak for themselves. The new wave of games that are coming
out such as Watchdogs are having to be dumbed down the the Xbox One. This game has been guaranteed to come out in full HD on the PS4 but not on the Xbox. If you read the specs on a lot of future releases and ones that are already out the Xbox they have the
same issue and/or reduced frames per second over the PS4.

Graphics aren't everything to me otherwise I would have purchased a PC. It is just really worrying that the PS4 appears to be so much further ahead than the Xbox. I want to stay with the Xbox as I have always preferred their systems. However I am now concerned
with becoming invested in a failing console. Ala Dreamcast!

 

I remember this same conversation when the 360 launched, but we must remember that most of the content for any gaming platform is provided by the content providers like the game development studios and publishers. No hardware provider (Microsoft, Sony, Nintendo
or pc manufacturers) can control the dev timetable of these content providers (with exception of the first party studios).

UK gamers see that the US gamers are able to access apps for fox, cbs and the like and wonder why we can't. That is down to broadcasting licences. Sky have said that they are not developing an app for the xbox one yet. The operative sentiment in that statement
is the word yet. They also go on to say if the demand is there, they will review their position.

Now TV app and BBC iPlayer are currently in development (according to the relevant company forums) and are due later this summer.

As far as the resolution the games run at; unless you have a TV bigger than 50 inches, you wont see much of a difference. Some Devs have said that the X1 is a little harder to achieve full 1080p at the moment but it's not down to the hardware but the SDK
that is currently available. I have read that (now I'm not sure how accurate this is) Microsoft are aware of the problem with the SDK and will be launching an updated version to improve the development process and make it easier to hit that magic 1080p that
seems to be so important to some gamers. Just remember, the Wii had first gen Xbox graphics and looked pants on an HDTV but yet still outsold PS3 and Xbox360.

Sometimes it's worth while doing a little research about what is going on before having a pop at the console makers.

E3 2014 will give us a glimps of what's in store over the next year or so and the future line up is looking good. Watchdogs, The division, Destiny, Halo and not to mention Xbox Originals (xbox tv).

Yes I want more content like everyone else but I want quality and I am happy to wait a little longer to ensure that is what I get.

As for research, are you aware that Sky and Microsoft have had a large falling out over the name for the One Drive? Originally it was called Sky Drive but this was contested by Sky. Since then Sky have not produced any apps for any of the latest Microsoft
devices, other than Now TV which is charged separately to Sky subscription charges. I do not know if this is down to Microsoft or Sky. Either way it doesn't look promising for the One.

As for not having the SDK ready (or as well developed as the PS4). This is another example that the One MAY have been rushed out. The system was advertised as having full HD gaming with integrated TV and media capability. Yet we are now seeing games being
released that are not full HD and the UK is still waiting on the integrated TV.

I understand that this system is still in its infancy. And I too remember hearing how much better the PS3 was than the 360 back in the day. The issue is now that Sony appear to be addressing the problems that have always put them second in my mind to the
xbox. Such as improving their online features and integrating apps such as Sky Go etc.

Unfortunately OP this is how it usually goes with a brand new console. Content is a little slow to start and game prices are more expensive, it all evens out in time though you just have to be patient.

As for Games With Gold, I would imagine we will see something at E3 about this.

 

I'm actually the OP on this thread and am enjoying the debate. I'm a total XBox fanboy but the One has disappointent so far.

As those not happy have said it was promised to have full HD graphics and the multi-media TV stuff (the main reason I bought) but we just don't have this.

You would not expect to buy a new model car only to be told the gearboxes are still in development but you can push the car anywhere you want in the meantime.

TBH I think MS would be on a hiding to nothing if consumer protection got involved as XBox One does not deliver what the marketing bumf says it will..

In the end, we have Halo coming and thats enough for me.

 

it has full HD graphics capability though, Forza being a case in point. its down to developers to get to grips with the machine and utilise its full potential, to use your car analogy there is plenty under the hood but the drivers cant seem to find fourth
gear. As for the TV thing we knew it wasn't going to be in the UK at launch but it is now being beta's for the UK by those in the preview program so its just around the corner.

I can't wait for Halo, not so much the MP but can't wait to see where the story goes.

 

Exactly the same here ^ I mean I like the occasional blast on Halo MP but its the campaign for me that sells it. I just hope they go all out in this new one and make it a pretty big story.
