Just one add to A Gamer X360's excellent post - there are only 3 free 1 month subscriptions per brand new console.

There are a limited number of "free first month" accounts per console. I believe that you are limited to 4 (one free month on four new gamertags created on that console), at least you used to be in the past. Not sure with the slim.



If you had created accounts on that console previously, you may no longer have any free first months available. If you purchased the console "used" from a 3rd party (i.e. not refurbished from Microsoft), then they may already have been used by the previous
owner. Consoles serviced or refurbished by Microsoft are usually 'reset'.



Finally, I don't think it is possible to get the free month with an existing XBL account, even on a brand new console. So, if you recovered the account (or transfered it via USB/memory unit), then you won't get the prompt for the free month. This also applies
to accounts created on the XBOX.COM web site and then 'recovered' to the consoles, even if they weren't used on any other console before.

Is this an XBL promotion? Usually you get a few free months with a new console, 1 month per gamertag. If there is a promotion where creating a silver account lets you also have a free 1 month gold trial I'm not aware of a promotion. However, usually in the
terms and conditions it would have some details. Have you tried upgrading your account? Normally when you get to the stage where you pay it says something along the lines of "your entitled to a free month of gold, click ok to continue". Or is the promotion
a code that will be emailed to you?

I would try upgrading and see what it says, and also read the terms and conditions of the promotion.
