    Get Xbox email account from Xbox internal hard drive


    So my friend's Xbox one was water damaged. Completely broken. No way to power it on or fix it.

    To make things worse, he doesn't know his Xbox account e-mail. He already tried account recovery to no avail. Therefore he has lost all of his games that he bought on the Xbox store.

    Luckily, the internal hard drive still works. I connected it to my computer, and all of the partitions mount fine.

    Here is my question: Can I find his e-mail stored somewhere on the hard drive? I don't need his username or password, just his e-mail. Is this possible?

    USB hard drives, not even the Seagate "official" USB drive work.

    Only real internal Xbox 360 hard drives from Microsoft work.

    Also beware that especially on sites like ebay or Amazon Marketplace, some third party hard drives are sold.

    Often, these drives do NOT have the necessary Xbox Emulator on them, so the Xbox games still won't work.

    Make sure you really get an original Xbox 360 internal hard drive.

    Xbox files are not meant to be seen through a PC so that's not something we could help with here. He can try contacting support. As long as he can verify he is the owner of the account, they can get him the email. 1-800-4my-xbox if you're in the US/Canada

    Hi, an Xbox internal hardrive has to have a specific boot sector for the Xbox to see it ( that boot sector would contain all the information the Xbox needs to enable it to be used as an internal Xbox hard drive such as drive size, whether it's an official
    hard drive etc ) an external hard drive is another matter totally, external drives work differently but some games do require you to have an internal hard drive but that's a whole other subject.

    Where we're getting out wires crossed is that in order to have an internal hard drive other than an official hard drive to work you'd have to somehow modify the boot sector of the unofficial hard drive to something the Xbox can see ( for example the Xbox
    sees the hard drive and gets the info that it's a hard drive suitable for use as an internal Xbox hard drive yadda yadda )

    With that said, if you just put any old regular hard drive into the internal hard drive bay on your Xbox it's just not going to work at all.

    I can’t get the original Xbox game, Knights of the old republic, to run on my 360.

    Hi,

    It's likely because the hard drive you're using on the Xbox 360 isn't an official Microsoft hard drive. Only official Xbox hard drives from MS will allow you to run original Xbox games made backwards compatible on the 360 platform.

    Original Xbox games won't run on a 360 if:

    • You don't have an internal hard drive
    • Your internal drive is not official - knock off hard drives from eBay and Amazon won't run original games.
    • Your 360 hard drive is faulty
