GET THE EXTENDED WARRANTY (Elite controller)

Straight to the point, If where ever you are buying an elite controller or anything Xbox related and offers extended warranty, GET IT. It is ridiculous that a $150 controller comes with only 90 day warranty, and if were to break after that, well now you
have a broken $150 controller that MS will not repair, obviously because of it being out of warranty.

On my personal issue, I bought an elite controller back in the beginning of December last year, I take care of all my stuff and this controller is already showing signs of hardware problems, first notable thing, left analog stick drifts up when not being
touched and now the left trigger stop seems to have given way as it does not stop where it should (calibration/config screen shows this). with only 4 months of use on the controller it should be far from already "breaking". It could all be said that this is
my fault for not getting the extended warranty when I could (Bestbuy), but did not think the controller would already be failing and Ms would give me a problem trying to get the thing serviced, which of course if it's out of the 90 days why would they.

You can say this is a rant, but more of trying to help others, better to be safe than sorry and hate to be that guy but I will be, I am done with the Xbox One, it's just problem after problem, I have already swapped twice on almost all my hardware due to
problems, first issue was with the disc slot, then some weird HD problem, now my current X1 has the infamous bad HDMI port, which I cant even get serviced since I am pasted the year mark.

Well, hope no one else strikes as bad luck as I did with this console, but I am sure as hell not going to wait before something else happens and just going to sell the thing.

The normal warranty on the Elite Controller is 90 days. Is there an Extended Warranty for the Elite Controller, like there is of an Xbox One?

It is so refreshing to see a post like this that doesn't start out with how loyal to Xbox you are. With that said... why didn't you take your own advice and buy an extended warranty?

 

In fact, I could say I've been pretty Loyal, I have been with Xbox since the 360 released, but cant deal with going through all this again. But, will say MS has been good with at least swapping/repairing anything I've called in for before, consoles and accessories.
I have a day one console (which like mentioned has been swapped twice already). Why did I not get the extended warranty you ask? Well I first didn't think this control to start acting up THIS soon, let alone MS to offer only 90 days on a $150 "premium: controller
(usually 1 year) and since not being able to tell the future I did not get the warranty.

 

I have it on the console and my first real problem as always will be when it runs out lol as for my elite controller pretty sure you can't get an extended warranty not through Microsoft anyway

Here is the catch...If your elite controller came with the elite console or if you bought it from the MS online store then they will give you a 1 year warranty ... otherwise if you bought from a third party -like me - then they will give you only a 90
days warranty. Mine was purchased on Dec 2105. I am a casual gamer and I take a lot of care of my toys. Also if you try to register the controller for repair youll hear the horn...wrong answer. MS doesnt allows you to register their "elite" $150 controller
and thus you cannot ask them for repair. Finally like the supervisor from customer service with which I had the pleasure to talk told me "at the end it is just an accessory". I will keep my opinion on that to myself. MS loves to take money from gamers. And
talking about loyalty don't even get me started on Xbox 360 the red ring of death issues -4 console repairs- and a lot of headache thanks to MS Xbox division. Good you have a lot of BETA testers to help you do "real life - real con$equence$" testing....

 

My Elite controller purchased in October from Game online developed a faulty right bumper. I contacted Game and they told me to exchange for a new one instore I was well chuffed.

 

I have been lucky. Never really needed a warranty. I did extend one once on the 360 because it was the original launch style (even though I had a launch unit and near launch unit with no problems) and it was for one of my sons. So I just quit extending
the warranty on these things.

Only 3 devices I ever wish I had an extended warranty for. My 2 launch period PS4s (heat issues caused major issues) and our first Wii. The Wii was an easy fix though as I purchased a new disc drive on eBay and put that in. One of the PS4 units Sony actually
fixed but it started acting weird again at times, GS had a trade deal, so I swapped that one in.

Usually if an item is faulty it will break within the warranty on me. If not it usually lasts. But there can be issues with any electronic device.

 

in the UK it has a 1 year warranty full stop, unless it has been subject to neglect or abuse.

 

If you live in New Zealand or Australia, under our consumer protection legislation, we'd have a longer warranty like 12 months, especially considering the price of it, no matter what the manufacturer/Microsoft say. NZ and Australia have special consumer
rights enforced by our governments XD.

 

During my 1st year with Xbox (I got Xbox late 2010), the basic headset which came with my Xbox 360 slim console didn't work and that was 9 months into my standard 12 month console warranty. The retailer said although Microsoft only offers so many days on
accessories like controller and mic that came with my console, I could take the mic back to them for replacement. Xbox accessories come with 12 month warranty full stop in NZ and Australia cuz under the NZ Consumer Guarantees Act, products must be durable
and last a reasonable time. 12 months is reasonable. Anything less isn't. Australia also has similar laws.
