Personally, assuming I get this console (imminent amazing ugly controller, for starters) they're most welcome to check my Kinect.

.

I'll have something ready ; )

You do know the Xbone and PS4 need updates out of the box.The Xbone is a brick without it and PS4 is not much better.
I didn't know that, because I literally give approximately 0 *** about the new consoles and their crummy sequel mania launch lineups, but now I know.

However, if you really want an "offline experience" on you consoles all the time, you could easily just install the updates and then unplug your consoles from the internet. You don't need a specific console to do that.

The cable companies are *** greedy pigs though, since the conversion from analog to digital it's highly likely that they received a large boost in contracts since then. Heck, I remember a day when cable was commercial free because you were paying a premium.
Cable companies aren't much better than *** energy companies in my eyes.

5. All we have here is Charter Cable. They wont sell us internet connectivity unless we buy cable first but it cant be basic cable. You have to buy a premium package. Then they will let you get internet for 49.99 on top of the 74.99 you pay for cable. Its a scam
but we have no choice. If you later decide you dont want cable you lose internet too.New subscribers get 30 meg speed while the rest get 15.After the one year new subscriber deal is over you revert to 15 meg or start paying extra.

Just another indication that major corporations are given too much power at the expense of the people.

This is where capitalism will shine. Time Warner, you want to charge me and/or block me from accessing Netflix? That's OK, I will take my business and money elsewhere. Cable companies can try this, but like season passes, it won't work. People will whine
about it on Internet forums (sound familiar? lol), but the real change will happen when customers begin to leave and these companies start to lose money.
Most forum regs wont be affected as they live in the UK but for Americans its been a bad day.
Because UK ISPs already throttle certain types of internet traffic, from streaming video to p2p traffic.

This is something we've had to out up with for some time and the nightmare scenarios you envision have not happened here.

Apparently you don't know that cable companies have monopolies in most areas of the US. You can't just choose to switch, you'd have to move and make sure a different company owns that region. People aren't whining they're spreading the word about greed and
capitalism trying to screw them over.

We have three different cable providers in my area. Right now I'm with Brighthouse, but if they try to overcharge me, I'll be gone in seconds.
There are other ISPs out there besides Cable companies. I will say that cable internet providers tend to have better speeds as well as better experiences than other offerings like DSL in some areas. Where I live, DSL is great. The company is expanding
into the newer DSL technologies that can allow you to get up to 100Mbps (If anyone is curious take a look at VDSL2 Vectoring. That tech allows 100Mbps to be achieved over phone line.) But sadly not many Telecoms want to invest into newer DSL tech for whatever
reason.

This ruling also concerns me, but I don't see the govt. stopping this fight. With no basic rules in place regarding the internet, this could create some serious issues for users. I see the internet becoming a microtransaction nightmare, or worse for getting
access to all of the services that I have now. I have a feeling that congress will pick this one up, but who knows how long there will be laws/rules in place considering how badly our disfunctional govt. is right now.

Normally I am not a big fan of government regulation but there needs to be some rules set in place for ISPs to adhere to with regards to the internet so that the basic experience is not diminished.
