So i plugged my 1000g hard drive into the xbox one thinking i could play my movies off of it like the old xbox. But it formatted it once plugged it in and now when i return it to my computer it does not recognize it and having to format it back to normal
will delete all my files on the drive.....

I don't want to lose my 500gigs of movies i have on there because the only way i can think to get my computer to recognize it is to format it back and cant do that without all my files getting deleted

    :)

Is there any way to unconfiguring a hard drive and recovering saved games?

I recently got bought a new 360 slim with the 320g hard drive as well as a transfer cable to move my saved data from my old 360 elite. In the process of doing this my 120g hard drive from my elite was configured to the usb port and now only shows 16g available
if connected with the transfer cable. I have lost all saved games and profiles. Is there any way to undo the configuration and retrieve the saved games and profiles from encrypted files on the hard drive? If the hard drive is like a normal computer hard drive
all saved games and dlc should still be there somewhere no matter deleted or reconfigured. Is there anyway to get it back so the xbox can read it as a normal hard drive with 120g's and recover the saved data?

    USB Device Not Reading

I am trying to get my xBox One to read my external hard drive.

I have one hard drive I store games and apps on - it is 4TB. This hard drive has no problem. It still has 2.6TB free.

There is still 768.9 GB free of the 780.9 GB on the internal hard drive.

The second external hard drive is what is causing my problem. It has photos, documents and films on it. This device I use as a back up for my things like my phone and computer. It is 4.5TB and has 0 GB left.

Is the problem my lack of storage or something else? I would like my xbox to be able to read it so I can view my things on it. Thank you very much for your help.

I reckon the movies have already been lost because you formatted it when plugging it into your Xbox One.

With the June update external storage only supports game files, not movie/song playback (although that's been debated for future release).

However, formatting it for the Xbox One is a similar process to formatting it for your PC, so the hard drive should already have been wiped of all content.
