German gamers 2nd class gamers!

I know this post wont change much but living in germany i think we get treated unfairly by Microsoft.

Gears of Wars is a classic example!

IP bans, no releases even though they COULD set up a system where u need to verify that you are 18!

Xbox One.. NO offiical Gears Of Wars release. NO free Gears of Wars games. Hell you cant even download Gears of Wars 1 and 2 even if u buy a code. Its IP banned!

NO Sleeping Dogs remaster...

Why are we getting this treatment. No wonder people tend to buy a PS4!

I love my Xbox 1 dont get me worng but i think we should be heard at M$ in the USA and at least do something. Im willing to bet we dont get GoW 4 either!

Too Witcher 2 free in the USa here in Germnany cant even buy it digital!

 

And we pay a LOT more too /70€=80$ USA 60$!

 

Blame your government.

Germany has always had pretty strict rules when it comes to video games.

 

This is because of German laws relating to violence.

Team Ninja famously (or infamously) released a CENSORED version of the original "Ninja Gaiden" to a European Market rather than create a "German Only" game because the German Censors took exception to decapitation.

I thought I wasn't playing the game right because I couldn't chop anyone's head off.

So they censored decapitations out of it... even though one of your early in game movie sequences was a decapitation... but then downloading the "Hurricane Packs" or getting "Black" put decapitations back in.

Thing is... yer Sony games that feature blood and gore are probably going to be blocked by the same people trying to protect you from "Gears Of War".

 

Witcher 2 free in the US? I am not seeing it!

 

cheesyballs1970, that kind of takes the fun out of blaming Microsoft doesn't it. I know it is the popular thing to do but they are not the cause of this. Sorry.

 

@Electro: Witcher 2 was a US Games with Gold offering quite some time back. Pretty sure it was well over a year ago.

 

^ Wanted to add to my post (I hadn't made it over to the Xbox One forum and heard about Major Nelson's announcement when I posted the above), it looks like Witcher 2 will be free in select regions until February 5.

A snippet from Major Nelson's blog post: "And finally, Xbox One and Xbox 360 owners in select regions can download The Witcher 2: Assassins of Kings for free on Xbox.com anytime between now and February 5."

 

Well actually Microsoft COULD do something tbh--- Gear Of Wars Remastered they didnt even BOTHER sending it to the USk

Some companies dont bother even checking the new Games. Plus in germany its not forbidden to own these games just advertise them........

You can too do verified shops,, means u have to send you ID card (a copy) to prove you are 18 etc......

Btw cant download witcher 2

 

Most companies will error on the side of caution to prevent facing lawsuits. Better that than facing all kinds of grief, IMO.

 

I promise that this is my last post on the subject, but to add one more footnote to my above posts, after reading the fine print, it appears that Witcher 2 will be coming to Germany as well.

Sometimes deals are a little slow to actually show up as free at the time that they are supposed to be available, so maybe check back a little later.

 

Remember the 2009 version of Wolfenstein? It had all the Nazi symbols edited out but it got recalled when it was noticed that a symbol slipped through.

Here's a pic of the sole offender in the game. The game was recalled and never released there. Now that's some heavy-handed censorship! You'd have to be looking for that symbol to find it there!

Apparently the Nazi symbol is banned in video games because Germany categorises them as toys, even the ones with mature ratings. You can't display the symbol on toys.

Maybe when Germany catches up and puts video games in the same category as movies and TV shows... things'll improve in terms of games actually being released there, and censorship being dialled back... a lil bit.
