I am part of the preview program/insider hub, whatever its called now and my xbox is turning on but wont load anything. it worked fine last night, then i traveled to spend the weekend with my father and upon plugging it in and turning it one it wont work.
the console loads up just fine but then if i try to connect it to the internet or load a game it takes a long time then tells me it didnt work and to reset the console and then it just freezes.

General Xbox Issues

I have my Xbox since 12 Month now. And I'm 100% sure I wont buy a new one or any Microsoft product anymore (except Windows). I had several issues with my Xbox. First of all those Updates. I'm busy with working so I don't have the time to play on a daily
basis. But when I want to play I have to download a update. Those updates make my gaming experience not a bit better, they are mostly useless and bring problems!

Which brings me to point two. Every Update is HUGE! 500MB to 1GB. almost 30GB of my 500GB hard drive is full of things I don't need for playing. Every game has to be downloaded too, which is no problem, I thought. I pay 50€ for one year so the Servers must
be really good. But they are not! I have a glass fiber connection at home and on my computer I download from steam with around 12-13 Mbit/s. And on my Xbox? Well I need for 500MB sometimes 1hour which correspond to 0,139 Mbit/s. I wrote down how long it took
for the last few Updates (well took me not much time to get some data cause it felt like that Updates came on a daily basis) and calculated the average download speed. 3Mbit/s. Would not be bad but I PAY FOR XBOX LIVE! Some would say it is only for Multiplayer
and you can go online without Xbox Live. But Xbox said before the Xbox came out that with those costs the Severs would be better. And when you have to download so much data you don't need I expect that the servers are good.

The next point is the Xbox360 games. I was happy when they announced it and when I bought Fallout or Dark Souls I cant wait to play the free old ones on my new console. Well especially Dark Souls has some serious lags. Playing Dark Souls with lags is like
watching your toaster toast. Well those games are for free, yes, but you can buy them too which is more than a joke to me. Also the prices in the Xbox store are a joke. 69.99€ for Diablo 3? Well when it came out I bought it for 59,99€ and now you get it for
19,99€. But with Xbox Live you get (rarely) an astonishing offer for Diablo 3 for ONLY 49,99€ (sarcasm). There are much more examples like this but to count them all it would take days (like downloading my games again cause my hard drive is full... again).

My next point are the free games. 90% no really good games. For 50€ I get on Steam summersale more than 20AA games with all DLC and so on. I downloaded 20 games so far (sometime I forgot, sometimes I didn't want the game) so I paid 2.50€ per game which are
90% bad Indie games (0.99€ on Steam).

Now my last point. The controller. Well it feels good, the vibration is good but my controllers feel very used after only one year. During schooltime almost 10 years ago I played very much on my Gamecube / Wii / PC / PS1/ PS2 /PS3 /Xbox. And the Xbox one
controller is by far the controller which feels used the most after only one year (except PS3 which is worse). And for the price of 59.99€ its really an impudence. My old Gamecube controller which is over 10 years old and has over 2000 gaming hours feels like
new and back then they cost 30€.

My personal conclusion is, that the Xbox isn't a gaming console anymore. Neither the PS4 is. Those are overpriced, profit orientated bad computers. If Xbox Live would be free and you can upgrade it to Gold for the free games and some tiny features it would
be way better. Also the exclusive games have mostly no Coop anymore and so much DLCs (overpriced) that they aren't a plus for the Xbox. For me they have to do a brand new concept for the Xbox or they have to offer a Xbox only for gaming. And not for Netflix
streaming, surfing, updating and unnecessary things. I would buy a Xbox only for gaming but this is not for gaming, not a computer neither for working. What is it?

 

I fixed my issue by clearing and reseting my MAC address, hope this helps anyone with a similar issue.

 

Good job clearing your alternate mac address can some restart the whole console and get small glitches fixed like that. If later on you have a similar problem and are not able to get it working like that. Try going into your settings under all settings then
system and console info and updates then hit reset console keep my games and apps. Just make sure that you know your Microsoft account email and password and your WiFi password.

Exactly the same problem here - console is basically unusable

 

Oh! Found I could get the menu working by getting the internet working by using a LAN cable, lol. Then did the MAC clear trick and surprise surprise - time for a system update!
