Another post as my question wasnt answered so i will try again.

How did microsoft/xbox/live rewards come to the conclusion that 1 gem should be 1 point?

Can i see some sort of reason as to why that was decided instead of this answer:

"Gems have no currency value. Since we recognize how much members love the Gems they have earned in our program, they will be worth 1 Microsoft Point when you are transitioned to Microsoft Rewards"

multiplayer boring in 5 hours, single player boring in less then 6 hours.... 11 of play time for $60 =/= good value.

the Faq used to state that gems have no cash value - however, since the program merge announcement I haven't been able to locate that specific statement in there again - unlike rewards points which are provided a cash value of $1 per 1000 points.

the rewards program is run by a third party so they probably don't have the real reason for the conversion rate if it was a microsoft decision. i kinda suspect this was a last minute decision by someone at MS that caught the rewards people off guard too,
otherwise there was no point in updating the program last summer when they could've just left it the same or merged it then and taken less flack for it.

technically we're still coming out ahead if you consider that they could just zero the gems out and give us nothing at all for them, but it's not much consolation for the people that were saving for the big gem prizes and got caught with a nearly empty vault
to redeem from when the merge announcement was dropped on us.

as it is I'll have ~1k gems myself come May and I'm in the same boat as everyone else: waiting to see if they restock. It sucks, but there's really not much we can do about it ><

Gems have no currency value. Since we recognize how attached to their Gems our users have been, when you are transitioned to Microsoft Rewards, Gems will be converted to 1 Microsoft Point.
