Gears of Worst: Failed Edition

Ok Take Note :

After reading a few people have been having the odd niggling issue i have decided to list some tried and tested methods that may help

Method 1 :

Turn console Off make sure your are in power saver mode when doing so

remove the power cord from the back of the console, not just the wall socket, the PSU still store's power untill the CAP's have drained.

This method can help cure a whole host of random issue's

Method 2 :

Install all your downloads and games on to an External Disk drive.

Turn power off then un-plug the USB hard drive

Turn the System back on

Goto settings\System and select Restore Factory Defaults

This method has proven to fix a whole host of Issue's recommended if above method fails.

Tests Proven NOT TO WORK fixing Xbox one Issues

1. The Jam method (not advised, failed to work and made a lot of Mess!! you have been warned)

2. shouting and screaming

3. Ranting on Forums

4. ignoring any advise given

Unconfirmed Test's

1. The Marmite Test

Unknown effect ... !!!apply at your own risk!!!

 

sadly the above tests need to be applied with common sense .... which some may find hard to understand ..

Lol good lists for those wanting and not wanting to fix their xbox issues or to create some if you havent any. We can always hope the marmite test comes good.

...now if a factory reset was what you were talking about, well then, in that case, you'd have a point.

I don't think it's bad sectors on my external, as everything I have is on it, and everything else I've played and used works just fine.

I have tried installing the game onto the internal - this is somethign else I've already mentioned - it failed during the process. Now, I haven't redownloaded directly to the internal yet, I admit. That's not because I don't want to, but simply because I
forgot it was suggested (this is something else I mentioned in the last few posts). I still plan on trying it at some point, but I'm simply so exhausted from the monotony of having to reinstall the game over and over with no fix in sight.

As for the console itself having bad sectors, I certainly hope that's not the case, since it's brand-spanking new. It's not used or refurbished AND it's a newer model (which, generally speaking, is usually better).

I've talked to my brother about putting it on his console (which is something I really want to do), but he hasn't given me a definitive answer yet, so I'm not sure that's something I'm going to be able to do unless I do it behind his back, and I'd rather
not betray his trust.

A hard reset is definitely a last resort - to be frank, I'm surprised you guys are putting it on the table BEFORE I've exhausted all of my other options...

Sometimes I wonder if you guys just like to watch me suffer - I know at least some of you do...

 

why are you so against a factory reset? You have barely any settings to change and all your games are on the external HD so why are you so against it?

My mistake. I read it as you didn't try a Hard Reset.

iB, because even though they were on the external, I had to reinstall/update many of my games when I got the new console - it took WEEKS to complete and I'd rather not go through that again IF it can be avoided...

 

I can understand GG,

having not the fastest connection can be a drag, i know it's easy for people to laugh at you and get better broad band blah, blah, blah.

I too don't think you have a faulty HDD but I could be wrong ..

you could try just to prove to yourself and rule out .

1. try connecting your external Xbox one HDD to your windows PC and running a scan disk by :

right clicking the HDD and selecting Properties/Tools/Check

I don't know if this will help but could be worth a try ... please note I'm not sure if it will scan any hidden drive partitions ?

also go to settings of the console and make sure you have all your games and app's installed on your external HDD

once you have done that disconnect the USB external HDD then perform a Factory Reset.

that way you wont have to download everything again as you have it all on the external drive.

once the factory reset has finished connect the USB HDD again and log in to your account.

this has to be the quickest way to see if it resolves any issues.

but I totally agree with you I would not want to re-download all games and updates ... What drag that would be....

got to at least worth a try ?

 

While I like your idea Steve, you have to understand that my external wasn't plugged in when I got a new console either, since you know, there was no console to plug it into during the interim, so I firmly believe that, for whatever reason, the results would
be the same if I did a factory reset. I'm not ruling out a factory reset at al at this pointl. I just think it's an extreme last resort. It comes last...

 

oh hang on GG did you say even if you have the games on the external HDD you still have to re download all updates ??

if so the ok look wait and see if there is another way non of us know of as of yet ..

 

Going slightly off track.

Obviously not everyone using External Drives have issues but does anyone think that problems are more likely to occur with games, downloads using External rather than the Internal Drives?

Not sure why I've never liked the idea of using External Drives, luckily I don't have to but it seems quite a bit of the time when you read about someone having issues they are using External Drives?

 

I've actually heard the opposite - many people have been saying that their games run better with certain external HDDs, Lofty.

I totally believe you. I know a few people myself that use them, say they work great.

I could be totally wrong but it just got me thinking. A lot of the time, especially lately when I've read a post where someone is reporting issues, they are using External Drives.

End of the day, people get problems with whatever they are using but it did make me wonder lol
