Gears of War 4 will not boot

    Gears of War 4 will not boot


    I have a new PC and I downloaded my Play Anywhere game 'Gears of War 4' using the Microsoft Store. When I try to run the game, it does not boot. I see a black windows for a split second and then it disappears. There is no error code or notification of any
    kind.

    Note on Xbox there are no problems playing this game.

    Some detail worth noting, when I first downloaded the game, it downloaded over 200GB of data. The store stated a maximum cap (e.g. 200GB of 200GB) and the progress bar was not at the end but the total was the same as the downloaded amount. After waiting
    a while longer, it stated 'Downloading 209GB of 209GB', so the download just kept moving the goal post. After leaving the download overnight, it seemed to complete but the game did not play. I deleted the app from 'Apps & features' in Settings and re-downloaded.
    This time I saw that the total to download prior to starting was 121GB. I started the download again and it seemed to complete at 121GB. Again the game did not run.

    I've contacted Microsoft support and they directed me here. Can anyone offer any advice?

    PC spec = 6-core i7 @ 3.2Ghz, Nvidia GTX 1080Ti, 16GB RAM

    Does anybody else find the 4k mode on the Xbox One X version of this blurry when moving, looking or panning the camera around? (Characters don't blur, just scenery when panning the camera).

    Does anyone know what the best way forward from here is? I've contacted Microsoft Support and they directed me to the forums. I'm out of options.

    Hi,

    The Forza Horizon 4 game may not boot or crash if the graphics card drivers on your computer is not updated or due to a software conflict with the other apps installed on your computer. To resolve your concern, we suggest that you follow the steps below:

    Step 1: Run the troubleshooter for Windows Apps on your computer by clicking the run troubleshooter button on this

    Step 2: Click on this link for the steps to perform a clean boot. This process will start Windows by using a minimal set of drivers and startup
    programs. This helps eliminate software conflicts that occur when you install a program or an update or when you run a program in Windows 10.

    Step 3: Reset the game from the Settings menu. This process can help restore corrupted game installation files.



    1. Press the Windows key on your keyboard, and then click the Settings icon.
    2. Select System, and then select Apps & features.
    3. Find the game, and then click on Advanced options.
    4. Click Reset.

    Step 4: Reset Windows Store to clear the Store cache.

    1. Press Windows key + X on your keyboard.
    2. Click on Command prompt (Admin).
    3. Type wsreset.exe, and then hit Enter.

    Once done, please make sure to restart your device for the changes to take effect.

    The remastered Gears of War is not going to drop at the same time as Gears 4. But perhaps a little bit before Gears of War 4 to build anticipation
