Gears Of War 4 server Europe

The closest Gears Of War server for me is a Europe server. Why is it that the traffic is routed/passed through from my location(in Europe, tested on three different ISPs) all the way over to USA , and then back again to the dedicated server in Europe.

Would this not cause extra latency instead of keeping the traffic more direct. Thanks

Only Gears of War 3 was supposed to run on dedicated servers.
Maybe Judgment, but not the first two.
I remember the first game kicking you when the host left.

Unfortunately, The Coalition (TC) has not setup server regions correctly. This has caused many of the connection complaints from gamers both console and PC. TC is aware of this and has yet to correct this, among many of the other problem the game faces.
Yes, the latency and lag you may experience can be caused by TC servers, sadly there is no workaround nor fix reported by TC to be released. Even more sad but true, I would say you should consider yourself lucky to even be able to connect to the servers, as
many players have been unable to since as early as December. In your case, I would suggest making sure your NAT type is set to OPEN. Also, you can try to adjust your region settings and see if that helps. I am in California and have been connected to Hawaii,
Brittan, and Japanese gamers. Until TC fixes their region coding on the servers we are going to be playing some very uneven matches.
