Gears of War: 4 -Play Anywhere question

Hi Gang,

So this might be a dumb question;

I am a massive Gears of War fan. After playing all the games on the
Xbox360 I am really keen to get into Gears of War: 4. BUT! I have since jumped off the Xbox bandwagon and saddled in to the
PS4 (I know how you must feel about me).

So my question to you guys is this;

If I was to purchase a digital copy of Gears of War: 4 could I redeem the code on my PC, using the
"Play Anwhere" function - which is applicable for this title - without ever having to connect to an
XBONE?

I don't want to spend the money on it and then realize that I have to have an
XBONE before I can download on the PC.

The PC part is no issue my computer will be able to run it perfectly - just unsure of how the "Play Anywhere"
function actually works.

Any help is greatly appreciated.

TL;DR: Idiot Playstation Judas wants to play GOW4 on PC without having an Xbox using Cross Compatibility - Can he do it?

Gears of War 4 Play Anywhere

the Play Anywhere system only applies to digital games. if you pre-ordered a physical disc, then you will not receive any sort of code or license to download it on PC. if you purchase a digital version, then your account will have the license for this
game on both PC and Xbox.

 

Gears of War 4 Play Anywhere

I have preeodered Gears of War at gameshop.at. for Xbox One. Is there an Code for the PC Version in the Box or do i have to buy it at the Xbox One / Windows Store, to play it on both Systems?

 

As the title is listed as Play Anywhere you should be able to download the game to your PC without first needing to download it to the Xbox. Simply find the game in the store on your Windows 10 PC and purchase it. After that you should be able to install
it your computer without issue.
