Gears of War 4:PC - Can't get xbox360 controllers to work

I have an xbox 360 wireless receiver with 2 x360 controllers which work fine in lots of games. I just downloaded GOW4 to local splitscreen with my wife and the controllers aren't recognised at all within the game. Windows sees both controllers fine and I've
found lots of forum posts saying the x360 controller works but GOW4 doesn't see them at all. Trying to start a split screen local co-op brings up an error saying "Plug in another controller for local split screen". I've tried unplugging and reoluggin the receiver
and windows chimes when its re registering the devices but still they don;t work in GOW4. Frustrating.

My wife and I have played GOW 1, 2 & 3 right through as co-op split screen and this is the sole reason I bought the game.

Any secrets to get this working?

EDIT: It was a driver issue. Update the Xbox Wireless Receiver drivers to the latest version and Xbox360 wireless controllers work in GOW4. Bonus points - if you extend your display over 2 screens using Nvidia Surround and set the split screen mode to vertical
you both get a full screen.

Natacon, which driver you downloaded for your controller? From which website? I'm in the same situation, me and my girlfrend played gow 1, 2 and 3 and we would to play 4

Thanks Brad, I managed to get them to work by updating the receiver driver to the latest version. Happy days.

Not true. It turned out to be a driver issue with the receiver. For anyone with this issue, force update your receiver driver to the latest one (mine was stuck on 2.914 (or something like that)) and the xbox 360 controllers work fine in Gears of War 4
on Win 10.

Gears of war is a XboxOne-specific game, not a backward compatibility game, so only One's control is recognized.

Thanks for coming to the forums with your issue. As it looks they are able to be used I found a

reddit thread that others saying they use these on a PC. For trial purposes, have you tried connecting them USB, or even try an Xbox one controller? Just to see if it is an issue with the controller?

I have a feeling because gow4 is an xbox one/pc game..... then it would require an xbox one controller and not a 360 controller
