Gears Of War 4 Microtransactions Don't Let You Pay To Win! Feel Better Now?

Sounds like they're trying to do a "HALO 5" with the Req Packs.

These also "aren't pay to win".

You just need them if you want to swap weapons or have vehicles.

If so that's another franchise ruined.

GTA online might have Microtransactions?

I do not like this idea at all! I hope it's not true.... I don't want no pay to win! how do you guys feel about this?

Never cared for Gears Of War. This revelation wouldn't get me to try the series again. I wonder if Titanfall II is going to take this route with "Burn Cards"?

Nothing new,nothing wrong ,and i really don't see why The Coalition needs to justify their "choice".

Not even sure if it's a choice.Forza,Halo and now Gears got similar microtransactions.

 

Of course it's a choice.

Blizzard chose not to include Micro-Transactions in "Overwatch".

Square Enix chose not to include Micro-Transactions in "Hitman".

EA Chose not to have Micro-Transactions" in "Plants vs Zombies" and when they finally did add a shop, it was nothing that you couldn't get by playing. Not grinding for hours ridiculously, but by playing.

In each case it is Publisher Choice that dictates Micro Transactions... so if you like paying for Micro Transactions and want it to get even more expensive to enjoy games... then buy "Gears Of War 4".

You can.

That's why Visceral Montreal was shut down when "Dead Space 3" failed to ape the massive profits EA was expecting after putting Microtransactions into the game.

They had seen the massive profits they were making in mobile games and thought they could repeat the same success with a full video game release. Instead they fell well short of projections because people felt it was a bit of a shady thing to do... sell
us the game... and then try and us me to buy it again with micro transactinos.

Interestingly... if you look at "Dead Space 3" on Wikipedia this information has been erased. They simply list the developer as "Visceral Games". Technically it's true while at the same time hiding the truth and the triumph of gamers over Publisher greed.

 

And you got the choice to enjoy these games without using microtransactions (this is what i do).

But i was talking about choice between Turn 10,343,the Coalition and Microsoft.

Since all these IP's got the same microtransactions,it' not a surprise or really devs choice.And it doesn't really matter.

Maybe other Microsoft IP's might get card packs/ microtransactions in the future.

 

No publisher puts Microtransactions into a game with the idea that they are going to be optional.

They want you to buy them and are going to use every psychological trick in the book to get you to spend extra cash after laying out $60 for the game.

These are the same tactics that free to play games use, only in the case of $60 titles perhaps it should be 'fee to play'.

In my opinion if companies want microsft transactions in their titles then they should either be free or come at a discount. At least then they would be honest about where they intend to get extra money from.

I really don't get why every one gets upset about them, can't say I've made a aingle MT since launch day. Can't see what the fuss is about if they want to sell cosmetic stuff on top. It's never affected me I just play rhe games.

 

As long as everything can be earned through in-game currency, it doesn't really bother me. What does slightly bother me is more and more rewards are based on an RNG loot systems and instead of working towards a guaranteed goal, you're just hoping to get
what you want.

That was 2K and their microtransactions were purely cosmetic.

If you skipped "Evolve over that you missed out on a great game where the microtransactions had zero impact on the game.

However even the Publisher acknowledged that though the game was considered a commercial success their microtransaction "could have been clearer and more straightforward" and acknowledged this hurt sales.

With "HALO 5" they had offered a quality product for more than 5 installments and when they said "Oh don't worry, about the Req Packs, it's not 'pay to win' we believed them because Microsoft used to be trustworthy.

But this wasn't optional extras. It was locking standard gameplay behind a pay wall - in this case the ability to use different weapons and vehicles.

Once bitten, twice shy.

Unfortunately, just like with "HALO 5" most people won't see this coming until it's too late.

 

Digital. Everything in free to play games, say Walking Dead: Road to Survival, can be earned without paying anything.

Yes they start adding little barriers to progression, the time to earn those things with in game currency will sneak up with each level beyond what you can call reasonable.

These $60 games are using the same tricks as free to play titles where at least that is kind of acceptable, because they have of course given the base game away for nothing.

Az. The skins on Counter Strike: Golbal Offensive are cosmetic only as well but since you are aware of the childish 'salty' term going around, I'm sure you know about the recent gambling scandal involving the game.

These companies use these psychological tricks to get people to ascribe value to these digital items, in fact very similar to how Microsoft got people to care so much about Achievements.

You don't fall for the tricks, I don't either. Yet a great many people do and there are entire companies dedicated to working out how to exploit people. After all Microsoft did it themselves with achievements, exactly the same mentality as microtransactions.
