Gears of War 2 Not working one when my profile is signed in

We have run several tests and found that Gears of War 2 will not work only when my profile is signed in. As long as it is not signed in it works fine. Any theories that could explain this?

yea gears 2 is the only game i cannot play and when im not signed in to my profile i can load to the main menu but freezes when im on my profile

 

Messed up game (gears of war 2)

I borrowed gears of war 2 from my friend the other day; i signed into my profile on my xbox and went into the game it did the epic games thing and microsoft thing... but then it just froze.. so i turned off my xbox and tried again but it froze... so
i gave it back to him saying it was scratched and not working so he tried it on his xbox and it worked... so i went on my xbox signed in using his gamertag and went into gears of war 2 and it worked.. i found that really weird... so while i was in the game
i signed out and it didn't freeze.. but then when i signed into my profile it just froze... i tried with all the other profiles on my xbox that didn't have xbox live and they worked... ( my cousins profile has xbox live and so do i) my profile has been messed
up for a while my gamerscore on my xbox and his are different... my cloud game storage is really messed up and on my xbox one day i had 7050 gamerscore and the next i had 6999.... someone got any ideas???

p.s i dont always play online... and i have the newest xbox 250gb console he has the 120gb

To start things off, here's a few questions for you to help us better understand the situation:

1. Is this the disc version of Gears of War 2? Or is it the Games on Demand (downloaded) version?
   
2. What "tests" have you run?
3. What troubleshooting steps have you tried?

This is the disc version.

The "tests" we have run are removing my profile and reinstalling it. Moving it from a thumb drive to the actual console. Using a friends xbox instead with my profile logged in. No matter what way we try it. If my profile is signed in. The game will quite
after load screens.

The game works fine if any other profile is signed in as long as mine is NOT signed it. It will start and they can even play the game with no problems, but as soon as my profile signs in the entire xbox will freeze.

Our best guess would be that the actual data for gears of war two within my profile must be messed up in some way. I have played through it multiple times so this kind of came out of nowhere.

I have found no other game with problems like this either.

That seriously sounds odd. From what you're describing (as well as the fact that you've played through Gears of War 2 more than once already without issue) it definitely sounds to me like you're on the right track with your thought process. If your Gears of
War 2 data is in some way corrupted, it could cause issue launching the game.

If you're willing to lose you profile's Gears of War 2 data, I suggest giving the following steps a shot:

• On your console's dashboard, go to the Settings Hub, then select System.
• Select Storage.
• Select your hard drive.
• Select Games and Apps.
• Delete your Gears of War 2 data.
• Back out of your hard drive.
• Select your Cloud Storage.
• Delete your Gears of War 2 data.

Obviously, this will delete all of your Gears of War 2 data. It's certainly understandable if you don't want to give this a shot. However, if you do, it will give us a hint as to whether or not the issue lies with your data.

One of the other things we did was moved the saved data for Gears of War 2 from the hard drive to the thumb drive. Then removed the thumb drive. Effectively having no data for the game on my profile.

It still did not work.

Please be more specific about what isn't working: what you are doing, what happens (especially any error messages that pop up). Your account is a free one (not Gold), so multiplayer aspects and online co-op would not work, for sure.

 

Have you tried to delete the cashe memory from your HDD ?

On your console's dashboard, go to the Settings Hub, then select System.

Select Storage.

Press Y on your hard drive and delete the chashe memory.

You can also delete the latest update from the game and update it after rebooting.

If you find any files on your HDD with yellow answering marks you should delete these, they are corrupted.

You can also try deleting your safe game. It could be corrupted. Unfortunately you have to start all over.

Try re-install Gears of War 2.

 

All Gears of War 2 Data has now been removed from my console. I now know it was not the problem, though I figured it was the case when this still did not work when on another person's console.

There are no parts of my saved data that are yellow (and again - all of that data is now gone anyway)

I cleared the cache (thanks for the tip on how to do that, kronkelvorm)

Tried it with the update fresh as well as without even installing the update.

Gears of War 2 is no longer installed on the HDD at all. I have been only running it through the disk after the problem first appeared. I can do a reinstall of the game onto the console and try again, and likely will, but do not see it making a difference
at this point.

My next plan is to do that and as well create a video of what is happening so you can know exactly what I am seeing.

There are no error messages btw. The screen just goes black and does nothing. The only way to continue on is to manually turn off the Xbox's power.

Multiplayer is not even in the radar because the problem occurs directly after the first two splash screens.

 

Hey again shadowd! Thank you for trying that test and posting your reply with as much detail as you did. I know I've said this before, but what you're describing is seriously odd. It seems like Gears of War 2 just doesn't like something about your profile.

I have a couple questions for you and another test that you can try:

1. Is your account a child account? By that I mean: Do you have a parental account tied to your account in any way that might have any age restrictions for mature content placed on your account?
   
2. Do other Mature rated games work with your profile?
3. Do you have other Mature rated games (preferably games from the Gears of War series) that you can try on your console with your profile? If so, that will let us see if the game's rating has anything to do with the issue.

This is an odd one.

Is your console connected to the internet when you sign in and play GoW 2?

Can you try disconnecting from the internet/play offline with GoW 2 using your profile?
