Gears of War 1 and 3 Codes aren't redeeming; came with Gears of War 4 as part of the ...

I bought Gears of War 4 in October as if you bought the game before December 31st, you would get the Gears of War collection with GoW4.

I got the game and the codes for Gears 2 and Judgement worked fine; but the codes for gears 1 and 3 aren't redeeming; the issue has been ongoing since October.

When redeeming the codes, on the console it says 'You can't acquire this item in your currently selected language. Change your language region in Settings, or go to Microsoft.com/Redeem.'

My language region is the UK; bought the game in the UK; so don't see why there should be a problem.

Tried to redeem the codes on the web, but when done so, a message comes up and says 'An unexpected error occured, please try again later.'

Please tell me there is a fix; specifically bought GoW4 so I could also play the collection. Want to play the games in order, but unfortunately can't.

code 1 and 3 not working

I got the 4 codes for the Gears of War collection that came free from purchasing Xbox One S 1TB Gears of War 4. But Gears of War 1 and Gears of War 3 codes are not working.

well first you need to match your account region to your actual region

2nd and very important

Set your console and language to your nationally supported language

And yes gears checks for languages

Languages independence is an Xbox one only feature not 360

So France account French region but uk language = fail

French account French region and console and French language = bliss

UK account French actual region and uk language = fail

If you do not live in an Xbox live region you are going to fail all 3 conditions anyqays and there is no fix

 

That's the thing though, my settings are fine, account is set to the region I'm actually in. A fair amount of people are having the same issue, silly tbh that this is happening.

 

Even though everything is correct, try re-entering your information at Sign in to your Microsoft account and/or try migrating your account. That has helped most people.

Like Smwutches and ngocphi have explained above, it sounds like there's a possible region mismatch going on which is causing the redemption issue. You want to be sure that your Xbox Live account region matches your current physical location. If you're not
sure, you can always run your account through the
migration tool and then try redeeming the codes again.

that isn't ms fault

It's because people don't read the tou and select the us or uk for better pricing or English content not meant for their region

In doing so they automatically run into these issues

The rule of thumb is to use your actual region if you want 100% no errors I don't run into them and 99% of live doesn't either

It is the few who try and go around the system that run into it

Which you should know by now has issues
