Gearbox Announces Battleborn!

Would have also liked them to skip Borderlands The Pre Sequel for Borderlands 3 but oh well. As for this game, I'm not sure what to think. I actually like the art style and I'm keeping an open mind.

I saw the article before the trailer so I knew from the jump it wouldn't have any gameplay (March 2016 release date) so u wasn't expecting too much. We'll see how it goes, there's plenty of time lol.

i dont' think we're jumping the gun .. we're just giving our first impressions. and with that, i wasn't impressed. that's my first impression. it's Gearbox. i root for the local developer but i stand by the first impression i have. it's just not intriguing
at all to me.

i've seen great art, concepts etc and this isn't it. it didn't give the best of first impressions to me that's all.

I like MOBA's, but the trailer and the artwork does nothing for me. I think they said it's not really a MOBA anyways, just draws inspiration from MOBA's. Either way, I'll wait to see more info and some proper gameplay, but from what I've seen it's a big
"meh".

I think the mechanical looking guy is pretty cool. I also like the music for the trailer It seems like a lot of people are not feeling this trailer tho so I wonder how/ if Gearbox will respond with any changes since (as of now) the release date is so
far off.

I'm holding any further judgement until I see gameplay myself. I'm one of the few who did like the announcement trailer lol.

TBH, I didn't read either article but wanted to comment when I saw the name Gearbox. After Borderlands, Gearbox were the darlings of the development world. Randy Pitchford seemed like a breath of fresh air. He seemed like a gamers gamer. Love Borderlands
2. One of my favorite games of last gen. After the joke that was Duke Nukem Forever (I know the game was in development hell but they still put their name on it) and the ball-faced lies Randy and Gearbox perpetrated with Alien: Colonial Marines, with the fake
gameplay videos and the hype......I no longer trust Gearbox. I firmly believe they only have the talent to create mindless shooters with toilet humor. Borderlands did that to a tee and I loved it as a result. That's what their good at. Cell shaded graphics
with dumb Bullet sponge AI. That's what they should stick to. I think that's all their capable of, TBH.

To be fair to them they too Duke Nukem and Aliens halfway through their respective multiple platform developmental hells. Aliens was also outsourced by Gearbox (not sure about Duke Nukem). They are generally good at developing their own games, rather than
trying to fix someone else's mess, as would be most developers.

Not trying to make excuses for them, but more trying to put things into perspective. This likely has a better chance of succeeding than either of those two titles. If it does fail it can purely be pinned on Gearbox.

A Blue Illusion

As much as I like Borderlands I am happy to see them create a new IP. - I'm not opposed to this thought.

I think some of you are jumping the gun a little.
- First impressions... Aside from the graphics, Borderlands had a lot of appeal to me. This has zero. I am, in fact, actually surprised at how unimpressed I was, considering who is making it.

We have only seen a pre-rendered video. - My experience with pre-rendered videos has typically been with a 'hype filter' turned on. If, after that, I still find myself intrigued,
interested or even excited, then I can be pretty sure I will at least like the game. It has been a pretty good indicator that I've come to rely on because it works pretty well for me.

We're yet to see any in-game footage. -True enough, but on that thought, it falls in line with the hype filter. Of all the pre-rendered videos I've seen, the actual game has never
exceeded the hype, or the feel, that the video created. A few have come very close to matching it, but for me, none have ever exceeded.

Gearbox did a great job of mixing First Person Shooter with ARPG, and I think if anyone can pull off another good hybridized genre game it's them, - Agreed.

so let's give them the benefit of the doubt for now until we have at least seen more of this title. It might pleasantly surprise some of you.
- Fair enough, but I have to say they've got a lot of surprising to do... JMO, but the only char that looks like he even belongs in the setting the title implies is the big guy with the chain gun. That fact in itself,
however, breaks the scene (for me) because the only guy who appears to belong [IMO] is the 'odd man out' who stands in contrast to everything else I see.

Time will tell I guess. As of now, not interested, but I'll try to keep an open mind about it.

As for the art style, well I'm willing to bet a lot of people didn't like the art style of Borderlands to start off either. I honestly didn't. Yet it's still one of the best games I played last generation. So I certainly won't be judging this game by it's graphics
alone.
