A bit of info Battleborn Is the Next Game From Borderlands Developer Gearbox Software - IGN.

Thoughts? Other than how far out the release is lol.

Is anyone interested in Battleborne?

it looks alright. my first impression was it looked like overwatch from blizzard an upcoming mmo game beta late 2015, a game i mentioned in a thread while back

funny thing is i looked up overwatch to make comparison and seems others also had the same imediate impression i did. so maybe depends on how the games are for people to decide, i did like the gearbox trailer on battleborn though and intrigued me

Hey look another company jumping on the MOBA train. But on a more serious note you can't really say much about a prerendered trailer with no real gameplay.

 

Total disapointement.

Gearbox first "next gen" game is another shooter (why no Borderlands 3),with coop (why no Borderlands 3),different classes (why no Borderlands 3) with cartoon style visuals (why no Borderlands 3).

So Gearbox did want to create a new IP,bring back Borderlands later on,seems they missed the opportunity to make something really different....

I will wait for Borderlands 3.

 

They're blending the First Person Shooter with the MOBA. Colour me intrigued.

 

I'm not impressed... at all... and I loved Borderlands (1 & 2). When I first saw Borderlands' graphic 'look', I didn't really like it all that much and questioned how well it would play, but at least I could see potential in it. The characters at least looked
'tough and battle hardened' to me. Combine that with the fact that Pandora looked cruel and unforgiving enough for me to condone the graphics I wasn't crazy about... and it ended up being an all time favorite of mine.

But this... this has none of those aspects from what I've seen. This almost looks like they decided to pit the cast of Snow White against the cast of Alice in Wonderland and used Albion as the setting. Well, as has already been said, we haven't really seen
much... maybe it will give a different impression as time goes on, but IMO right now, they're going to have to [not] pull a rabbit out of their hat to gain any of my interest.

 

Same here, though B.L.2 was getting on my nerves with the constant Nerfing of my favorite weapons and sub-par/overpriced Headhunter packs.

If Gearbox wants to take my money, they need to make Borderlands 3; and even my interest wanes for that title.

I actually just [last night] watched a dev commentary video on Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel that's coming out for the 360... and I thought it looked a little meh, myself. Of course,
maybe I felt that way because I was really hoping for a new Borderlands for the X1 and all the graphical improvement and next gen ideas that would have come with it.

 

i'm with Blue on this .. i wasn't impressed in the slightest bit.

 

As much as I like Borderlands I am happy to see Gearbox create a new IP. I think some of you are jumping the gun a little. We have only seen a pre-rendered video. We're yet to see any in-game footage. Gearbox did a great job of mixing First Person Shooter
with ARPG, and I think if anyone can pull off another good hybridized genre game it's them, so let's give them the benefit of the doubt for now until we have at least seen more of this title. It might pleasantly surprise some of you.

As for the art style, well I'm willing to bet a lot of people didn't like the art style of Borderlands to start off either. I honestly didn't. Yet it's still one of the best games I played last generation. So I certainly won't be judging this game by it's graphics
alone.

 

New IP is great,but this game seems very close to Borderlands.They just change the visuals (a bit) and set ii in heroic fantasy style (vs sci-fi).

I thought,Gearbox was creating something different.

That doesn't means it will be bad but not really what i was looking for.

 

As much as I like Borderlands I am happy to see them create a new IP. - I'm not opposed to this thought.

I think some of you are jumping the gun a little.
- First impressions... Aside from the graphics, Borderlands had a lot of appeal to me. This has zero. I am, in fact, actually surprised at how unimpressed I was, considering who is making it.

We have only seen a pre-rendered video. - My experience with pre-rendered videos has typically been with a 'hype filter' turned on. If, after that, I still find myself intrigued,
interested or even excited, then I can be pretty sure I will at least like the game. It has been a pretty good indicator that I've come to rely on because it works pretty well for me.

We're yet to see any in-game footage. -True enough, but on that thought, it falls in line with the hype filter. Of all the pre-rendered videos I've seen, the actual game has never
exceeded the hype, or the feel, that the video created. A few have come very close to matching it, but for me, none have ever exceeded.

- Fair enough, but I have to say they've got a lot of surprising to do... JMO, but the only char that looks like he even belongs in the setting the title implies is the big guy with the chain gun. That fact in itself,
however, breaks the scene (for me) because the only guy who appears to belong [IMO] is the 'odd man out' who stands in contrast to everything else I see.

Time will tell I guess. As of now, not interested, but I'll try to keep an open mind about it.
