    Garbage Wifi-Card

Why couldn't microsoft put a better Wifi card into these $600+ consoles? I can be the only one home and my ping in a game can skyrocket from like 30 to 500+. It's trash for how terrible the connection is to wireless networks, especially when spending quite
a bit of money on a console you expect not to have any issues with. Unless it's just me but I would like knowing that what I buy is going to work for what it is intended for.

    :)

Be aware, that WiFi is incredibly hard to troubleshoot. And it doesn't necessarily have anything to do with the WiFi card in the console, as my console works perfectly fine and I get decent ping and download speeds that match a wired connection.

Please check for the following when troubleshooting your WiFi to improve the quality to your console:

Check for neighboring WiFi networks and which channel they are broadcasting. Every WiFi that broadcasts on the same channel can basically half your own WiFi speed. Which means: If one neighbor in your vicinity has their WiFi broadcasting in your WiFi's frequency
band, you might only get half the throughput. With two neighbors on the same channel, and you only get a quarter of your throughput, and a fourth WiFi might get you only one eigth of your speed. And keep in mind, that WiFi occupies two frequency channels up
and down your selected channel, so if you have set your WiFi to channel 6, and the neighbor is broadcasting on channel 3, that still means that channels 4 and 5 are occupied by both WiFis, disturbing each other.

Additionally, not only WiFi networks impair your WiFi quality, but also other Wireless devices that broadcast in the WiFi frequency, like for example wireless headphones, garage door openers, baby monitors, microwave ovens etc.

And even if you live in the middle of nowhere, with no other active wireless interference, you still can become a victim of passive interference. And for that, you might have to think to your physics class in school. You might remember an experiment, where
your teacher had a bowl of water and two devices causing waves on the water surface.

You might still recall that there were places on the water, where the waves cancelled each other out.

The same thing can happen in your own home, when the WiFi signal is reflected off metal in your home. Be it rebar in your concrete walls or ceilings/floors, or large metal objects in the room like kitchen appliances or whatever.

Maybe your console is accidentally just positioned in a space where WiFi waves cancel out each other.

In that case, moving the console even a few centimeters can resolve that.

If everything fails, and you can't get your WiFi interference under control, simply use a wired connection.

If you're not willing to run a network cable through your house, you can try Home Plug network adapters instead. Those are small plugs that you put into your mains power outlet near your router, and connect a network cable to it.

The plug will then broadcast network signals over your home's power lines, and you then plug a second adapter into an outlet near your console, attach a network cable between console and adapter, and BAM! You got yourself a stable wired network connection
free of Wireless interference and other troubles beyond your control.

The Xbox will use the connection that it has available. You can run a wired connection for testing and see what you get but your router is what's going to provide the quality of the internet that the Xbox receives as well as the connection through your ISP

  6. Hi,

You are complaining about your WiFi, but stating you have a high ping. Ping has nothing to do with your WiFi connection between your console and the router.

Ping is a calculation of the time it takes for you to recieve a response from the server you're connected to via the internet, the signal strengh of your home network is not part of the results from a test for Ping.

If you're suffering high ping, you need to speak to your ISP.
