    Xbox Music on Surface Pro play commercials for local music

    I recently upgraded my surface pro to windows 8.1. Ever since then the music tile will play commercials during music playback even when all music is local on the pc. It will also stop playback with the "Are you still there" prompt as well. This was not
    an issue prior to upgrading to 8.1. How do you stop the commercials and prompts when playing music on your local pc?

    5.1 Surround Sound - HDMI

    I went through all the settings long ago while setting up! Surround sound has been enabled and the audio settings are set to HDMI - 5.1 uncompressed. Please note that surround sound is not present during ANY activity, not just while using the "TV" app. No
    surround sound during regular gaming, music playback, DVD playback, anything.

    The gaps are not between the songs, it happens when the music is playing and it just spoils the mood when listening to music...

    Windows Media Center sees files but can't play

    I can expand on 4GEE's problem because it is happening to me as well. The issue is that the Xbox Music subscription files (wma) are not playable with any the following media playback applications:

    * Windows Media Center on Windows 8

    * Windows Media Center on Xbox 360

    * Windows Media Player on Windows 8

    * System Music Player on Xbox 360

    Go ahead, try it for yourself. Interestingly, any subscription music downloaded through the legacy Zune software (also wma) is still compatible with all of the above playback applications. I confirmed the above findings just earlier today with my Windows
    8 computer and Xbox 360 S. The limitations of Xbox Music files has interrupted my ability to play a custom soundtrack during Xbox 360 gameplay as well as play background music during a Media Center slideshow. Downloading the Optional Media Update for Xbox
    360 does not solve this issue. Please help!
