Discus and support Ganertags change won't work. in XBoX on Consoles to solve the problem; When you go to change your tag and it says sound good I click it and it sits on a fake infinite loading screen.     When you go to change your tag and it says sound good I click it and it sits on a fake infinite loading screen. Kinda dumb and annoying. ????

    I'm sure your gamertag stays attached to your account, I suspect you will have to pay to change it back but I'm certain you don't lose it, I will try and find out.

    Looking to change my gamertag but what i want to know is can i get my current one back if i decide i dont like the new one or will it be open for someone else to then register as theirs?

    No. I just click sounds good and its suppose to take me to a form of payment instead it sits on a fake infinite loading screen. Other users are reporting this and Microsoft has no clue of this issue.

    Sorry to hear about the Gamertag change trouble. Have you had a chance to try changing your GT here on Xbox.com rather than through your Xbox One to see if there's any change?

    Have you tried changing your ganertag using your xbox instead of using the internet too see if it works for you that way?

    Cherry Marmite tag was taken within 30 minutes of him changing his tag so he could not change back.

    It becomes available to anyone else, I'm sure of it because if not, then there would be a shortage of gamertags. The best thing to do is pick a new one you like and have a think for a few days. I wouldn't advise changing it just to see though as it'll cost
    800MS Points per change which aren't exactly cheap.

    You could always make a silver account of your original name should you wish to go back to it... expensive way to do it though.
