Gaming Services Taking Too Long To Install

I have subscribed to PC Game Pass and Installed the Xbox Game App. I am prompted to install 'Gaming Services'. There is a green box at the bottom of the app that says 'Installing Gaming Services, This May Take A Few Minutes'. I have been waiting Hours and no Install in sight.

A google search on this has made me aware that this is a common problem, I have tried a few solutions on other Microsoft support threads with no success.

When I try to install it on the Microsoft Store, I get an error code: 0x80070057 which relates to installing on an SSD but there is nothing wrong with my SSD.

Please someone help me understand why this is happening because I can't install or play any games until this is fixed.

I am running windows 11.

I have updated Windows 11 and it is the latest version, 22H2

All Apps in Microsoft Store are up to date,

Xbox Companion App is installed and up to date,

I still have the same problem. 'Installing Gaming services, This may take a few minutes', but it's not taking minutes, it's taking hours with no progress in sight.

I also cannot find this Gaming services app in my 'Installed apps' List in Windows either.

Can you please help further?

N.B - I have just purchased Microsoft Flight Simulator but I cannot even install this game as I have found out this installs through the Xbox app and it requires 'Gaming Services'. Please help!

Hello Ian, are you playing on Pc, what would be your operating system, Win 10 or 11?

Have you checked if you have the latest version of Windows installed, at 22H2?

Also, make sure all Xbox Apps are up to date in the store, and make sure you have the Xbox Companion App installed, it works with the Xbox App.

Hey Darth Lupus. The Day 1 patch for Halo was 15GB so it can be gnarly based on your ISP/service tier, but I'd imagine it should have completed by now. There's a sticky thread at the top of this forum regarding slow installs that might help:

I'm getting a "Group not found" page when I click that link?

I haven't been able to get any of the 3 games I own to finish its online update. I have tried every method i've found on the forums, and nothing has worked. Almost 2 full days of trying to get a game to update is crazy.
