    Gaming Services not functioning for Game pass


    Hello!

    I finished playing a game on Game Pass earlier, and when I got out, I was unable to launch or install anything new. When I did, I was greeted by a message saying "Gaming Services installs and runs your games on your PC. The software may have been removed or require an update. Download now to play your games." Simple enough. I discovered I could not install it, so I took every step under every troubleshooting guide currently available on the first 10 pages of google, including this answer from Microsoft, which *does not work.* https://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/xbox/forum/all/gaming-services-not-downloading-or-working/4df26bcc-2048-4abb-8d7e-b78665c0498c

    I repeat. Using Powershell, cmd, Control panel, or *any* Windows troubleshooter to manually uninstall and reinstall, repair, or reset Gaming Services does not work, but I am getting no additional error message beyond the Xbox App insisting something is wrong with Gaming Services.

    Additionally, I am unable to access my registry, an issue I've had for a very long time, as my computer does not recognize my account as an administrator, an issue I've had for even longer, but have managed to get by up until this point without fixing. As such, I'd love to steer away from potential solutions that involve accessing the C:\Program Files\WindowsApps folder.

    Hi,

    Game Pass is a subscription service - think of it like Netflix but for games.

    You will be able to download and play the games as part of the service as long as the game is available on the service. Games eventually removed and replaced by different titles.

    If you end your subscription any games you have downloaded will cease to function.

    This is a live service game, and therefore requires access to Xbox live. If you don’t have gold or game pass ultimate, the game will not function. As it is not free to play, it requires you to have a subscription

    Hi, I hope you're doing great despite the issue you're experiencing. I am an Independent advisor and I am here to help you in regard to your concern.

    Kindly try to uninstall and reinstall the Gaming service by following the steps below:

    1. In the Windows search bar, type Windows PowerShell

    2. In the menu, select "Run as administrator"

    3. In the Administrator: Windows PowerShell screen, type the following command and press Enter:

    get-appxpackage Microsoft.GamingServices | remove-AppxPackage -allusers

    4. In the same window, type the following command and press Enter:

    start ms-windows-store://pdp/?productid=9MWPM2CQNLHN

    5. Click Install** to install Gaming Services (select Yes if you receive the User Account Control (UAC) prompt)

    6. Restart your device.

    If that didn't work, make sure that your Windows OS is up to date by following the steps below:

    Settings > Updates & Security > Check for Updates.
