    So, it started yesterday when I was trying to install Darkest Dungeon. It started just fine, downloaded about 45MB before it froze entirely. I looked into some fixes, tried everything I could, deleted and reinstalled, reset it in windows settings, tried just going through Microsoft store instead of Xbox app, etc. I finally got it to work just this morning, but the same issue of the download freezing happened. Now every time I open the app I get told that I need to install gaming services, despite the fact its installed and running.

    I followed the steps, but afterwards there were no updates in Microsoft Store, and Xbox app is returning the same error code 0x87e00196. Meanwhile the files in the Registry Editor are completely gone. Both the Xbox app and Microsoft Store have been extremely slow as well, if that says anything.

    In the Windows search bar type "Services".

    Scroll to the bottom and find the following services:

    -XblAuth Manager

    -XblGameSave, XboxGipSvc,

    -Xbox Live Game Save,

    -Xbox Live Networking Service,

    Right-click on the service (you must do this for each of them) and select Properties.

    In the Startup Type section of the "General" tab, make sure it is set to Automatic . If it is not already started, click Start.

    Then click Apply and OK to save the changes.

    Restart the device and try again.

    Hello!

    Hope you are well. I'll be glad to help you, just remember that you're not talking to a Microsoft employee.

    Open the Registry Editor, locate these paths and delete them

    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\GamingServices

    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\GamingServicesNet

    Restart the PC, open the Microsoft store and go to your library, then go to check for updates.
