I own astro a40's from 2011 but need new ones got £200 to spend and i was wondering if anyone on here owns the turtle beach stealth 500x

Setting up Turtle Beach x12's

These will be my first turtle beach headset or any gaming headset,

 

I wouldn't go from Astro to turtle beach if I were you, but that's just me. No TB headset I've heard sounds as good. On Amazon the reviews are mixed. It's cool that they're totally wireless with the xbox one, but if you're going to spend that I'd go with
the Astro A50s.

I was looking aat the new Gen 2 astro a40's they are listed for ps4 but they work with xbox one

 

I have been considering purchasing a descent set of headphones for my x1 and the two that seem to come out on top are the astro a50 and the turtle beach 500x. Now both seem to have there own setbacks which is a shame as the both cost around £200. So at the
moment I'm going to hold back and see if either of the companies will sort out these issues!

 

what issues do they have i was looking at the astro a40 gen 2 with the mix amp pro it says it is for ps4 but iv been told it will work with the xbox one

What issues have you heard of? I have the A50s and haven't had single issue with them and find them to be well worth the money.

I wouldn't waste your money to upgrade to the gen 2 Astro a40s. They're pretty much the same thing as what you have.

 

Going by what a lot of you tube and other reviews online have said. The mic sound quality on the a50 isn't very good and on the turtle beach the volume isn't very high. Not sure if this is something both astro and turtle beach can fix with a firmware update
(or if they already have)but for high end high priced headset this should be! Saying that, the turtle beach volume issue seems to be inconstitant on reviews. Some saying it's to low and some saying it's load enough.

 

I'm an amateur when it comes to audio equipment - what's a mix amp do? I ask because many of the headsets I use nowadays are not loud enough to accommodate my hearing loss.

Maybe someone with more expertise will chime in, but it enhances all of the audio as far as I know. Everything is crystal clear and allows for Dolby Digital and directional sound. With the Astro Mix amp you switch from voice audio to gaming audio, there
are also different presets that are for fine tuned for game, music and movies. It's a totally different experience with a mix amp compared to the exact same pair of headphones without it. With a set up like the Astro A40s or the A50s they get loud. I have
them half way and they are plenty loud for me. Check them out or something similar.

 

GG in a car people use amps in a home cinema they use amps a amp ups the sound and makes things 5.1 and 7.1 well a mix amp is a mini amp its what i use to turn my headset up etc

When using the mic on the astro has anyone mentioned the quality of the sound? I do like the look of the astros but I really like the idea of no wires at all with the to 500x

 

I have been using TB XP500's for the past year and have no issues with sound quality or volume, I plan to upgrade to the wireless ones for the One. Been using Turtle Beaches for the last five years with no problems or issues.

 

I've had the Astro A50's for close to a year now and I love them. After owning the Astro's I wouldn't think about going back to another set of TB's. I owned the TB DX12's before I got the A50's.
