Gaming computer with windows 11 pre-installed.

I bought a new computer (gaming computer) to use with my Oculus Quest 2. The computer came with windows 11. Apparently, windows 11 is not good for gaming and not compatible with Oculus. Oculus claims to be compatible but if there is a way to rig it to work, I haven’t found that.

I purchased the new computer and didn’t even ask if I could get it with windows 10 because the oculus website said 11 would work. So now I have purchased a computer that I can’t use for the purpose that it was bought for.

Best Buy wants me to lug this heavy machine to them and then pay them more money to install an older version of windows. I haven’t figured out the combination to actually speak to a person for Microsoft/Windows or get a response for the help requests I've sent. I also haven’t heard back from oculus meta-or whoever I’m supposed to talk to because I think I’ve emailed everyone asking what to do.

No one will help me and now it looks like I’m going to have to buy a new operating system which is the old operating system to replace the new operating system that I just bought. Sense everyone is upgrading without paying for windows 11 I feel like it shouldn’t be that big of a stretch for them to downgrade me to a Windows 10. I actually I had Windows 10 loaded to the computer I replaced to have a gaming system.

I have had this computer for only 4 days, and I am ready to throw all of it out the window. I'll open it first, so I don't have to replace that window too.

Even with that he still.need steam.or pc.link om Windows 10 or airlink which just came out in August

And yes I use pc link with my quest 2

As said you need the link in order for this hardware to work.

Not sure where you got the idea that Windows 11 is bad for gaming. Windows 11 is just a slightly prettier version of Windows 10, there are no issues with gaming on Windows 11. I built my own PC and have no issues with any of my games or software.

Well to use it with pc you need oculus link

Any two type c to type c cable will do oculus sells a long one for decent if you check Amazon you can find lots

If steam is more your flavour you can use steam.link

Otherwise the oculus is meant to be stand alone

To use on a PC wifi isn't enough as you. Need a lot of throughput like usb 3 type c

there were issues with oculus link with windows 11 and steam vr too, that has all been fixed since march this year, windows 11 is now ok for gaming and vr.

@ OP you can use the link cable for oculus with any vr game on pc, i use it all the time, i even use index games on the oculus, also wifi can be used as long as it is wifi 6, you need to be close to the router for oculus link to work efficiently, you will need virtual desktop to play all other vr games from other launchers via wireless link.

you can use any good quality usb c to usb c cable for oculus, i have a 25-foot cable linked to mine. the one i have has the right-angled connector with a securing strap to make sure it cannot get tugged.
