GameStop Trade-Ins truly are a Rip-Off....

They truly are a rip off. I took in 20 games to EB for an evaluation late last year and they offered me NZ$150 -$20 for disc resurfacing fee for a total of $130. After that they asked if I would like a trade in towards another game, cash or deposit on a
console. I replied back "yeah, I don't think so" then left the store.

Yeah a few of the games were fairly old, but were worth a bit more than the $2-3 they were offering and some of them were not even a year old and were only willing to give me less than $10. I eventually sold them online and made nearly 3 times what EB were
offering. Yes it was tedious, but worth it.

:)

3. Need Kinect to sell X1?

they want it with the Kinect so they can rip you off even more. Also they are looking at the resale point that's why they only will take trade ins if it has a Kinect with it. My gamestop has a sign up for X1 and ps4 that they will only take trade ins on
the system with cameras included.

Soooooo you didn't trade your games in.....therefore they didn't rip you off. If you had traded your games then it would have been you ripping yourself off while EB laughed all the way to the bank. Blaming Gamestop is like putting a gun in your mouth, pulling
the trigger......then blaming the gun.....for doing it's job......with a choice YOU made.

5. So how is Gamestop ripping anyone off? They are a video game retailer. They also provide a used game/trade in option that you or anyone else has a choice to either take part in or not. I don't utilize their trade in option for games for the same reason I
don't buy a pair of pants and expect to trade 'em in 6 months later. I don't buy stuff with the expectation that I should #1- be able to ever trade it in and #2- expect to get retail value or ballpark for a USED item. I think it's pretty nifty that Gamestop
provides that service for those that want to use it. So because pawn shops exist, they're criminals? You could go your whole life and never set foot in one, but if you are ever short on cash or have an unwanted item that collects dust, pawn shops provide an
OPTION.......just like Gamestop. Think of all the other items you purchase where there is ZERO option to trade it in......at all.

7. Gamestop is the only major game retailer around here unfortunately.

But like someone else said, I just don't really trade my games in much anymore. Unless its still fairly new and I know i'll never touch it.

They give some pretty good deal for new releases, if you buy one and dont like it or complete it fast. But older games they wont give much of anything unless they are doing one of those 50% more trade in specials.

GameStop Trade-Ins truly are a Rip-Off....

I bought Wolfenstein for 70 euro and just traded it in for 40 euro. Sure it's not a lot especially after two weeks, but I'm finished with the game and I won't play it again. I should have rented it it, but a 3 day rental is 10 euro.

I look at it like I spent 30 euro on the game for 2 weeks but it was worth it in a way. I had all those hours of enjoyment. If I went to the pub, I would have spent 30 quid in 2 hours.

Sure their trade-in prices suck, but they're better than nothing.

As long as you think it was worth it that's all that matter and at least you got a return while the price is still decent.
OK, what planet do you live on where either of your analogies make any sense? 1st you pull the laughable "Nobody put a gun to your had" thing which you just did again, and now you're telling me i ripped myself off?? The
guy there said "Value dropped". OK, what value, replay? If that were the case I'm fairly certain I deserve more than a measly $1.05 vs a supposed used game retail of $18.99, so what happened to the rest of that $1.05 I deserve, hmm? Even the case where
someone else just said they brought a game brand new, trade in not too shortly after and still only got around the same price. Total rip-off because regardless what value, these games don't retail for "$1.05", or even $5, $10, etc. If that's like "putting
a gun in your mouth and pulling the trigger", then someone around here surely must love getting ripped off without even realizing it because it's totally not the same scenario like you're describing, and it sure as heck ain't "doing its job", either. Yes,
we have a choice, just not when it comes to a fair, rightful trade-in value. I'd also like to point out, the $50 couple thing, last time I checked those cost 50,000 pts, which zIm pretty certain GameStop PowerUp Rewards doesn't bank you that much for band
new copies. Sorry, I ain't buying that bunk you say you've done countless times, either. Nobody can afford that amount to do it every release game.

I still go there for discounted older games, but I have stopped giving them merchandise. But Deal of the Week & GwG has been keeping me out of Gamestop more than the trade in value issue. Been getting cheap games with bing rewards. I don't mind them being
digital since they're essentially free, so nothing to trade in, and I don't have to have cash to get new stuff all the time.

12. @EvilTwin- We'll just have to agree to disagree. I'll type another paragraph. You'll disagree yet again. I don't like talking in circles. Especially to people who lack basic reading comprehension and who put words in my mouth to win a meaningless argument
over the internet. You win. Feel better? Bottom line: Gamestop is a business. Business's exist to make money. You buy a car, drive it off the lot, turn around 5 minutes later to resell it and they'll buy it back for a fraction of the cost.......5 minutes later.
Then resell it for twice as much as you just sold it. It's called capitalism. Welcome to reality.

GameStop Trade-Ins truly are a Rip-Off....

I only trade in games I have no interest in playing anymore, if they give me a $1 so be it. I don't have the time nor patience to try and sell them online or on Cragislist. I don't keep games I don't play so it doesn't bother me.
I put words in your mouth, yet somehow I'm the 1 who "lacks basic English comprehension"? Sorry kid, I didn't quote/put no words there that you didn't say yourself, shoe's on the other foot. Learn how to read. So 2nd,
my English comprehension is perfectly fine as you an see my punctuation, correct sentence structure, word usage, etc, where necessary. Also, if this argument was meaningless I highly doubt yo would've responded as it wasn't intended to be an argument at all
yet you made it 1. Besides, it's not like the trade-ins thing was exactly new to me, I simply felt people might like to know a little more insight. Bottom line whether it's a business or not is they don't seem to have a very realistic view of hat "value"
is because again, 1 could assume replay value was meant, or physical value, in which case nothing was wrong with the disc, no scratches, so its contents weren't even compromised. Needless to say where does this imaginary value "drop" keep coming from?

15. This is how this works. How much you get for the game depends on how many copies of the game that the GameStop company has. If they have a lot of copies of Borderlands and then you sell them yours, you can not expect them to give you $18.99 for a game that
they have thousands or millions of. So that is why you got so little money for it. They won't pay top money for a game that they have a lot of or for a game that no one wants. No game store will give you top dollar for a game that they have a lot of or for
a game that no one wants. So if you think that you can get more for it then sell it on amazon or ebay. But no person in their right mind will pay top dollar for a game that is old or for a game that they have a lot of or for one that no one wants. Dont get
mad at GameStop because you were dumb enough to think that you would get more money.
