Gamestop Preorder Help!

Okay, so I feel like I'm missing something here. I got a $75 visa gift card that I used to preorder the MCC online at gamestop.com, with the option to pick it up in store. I got a order confirmation, thinking "hey, great I'm good to go." I had no more
use for the gift card so I chucked it. I talked to the gamestop store where I will pick up the game, and they said they see no money down, only a hold. However, I called their national contact number and they said they charge the card a few days before it
ships, and all I need is a drivers license to pick up the game. Honestly, I feel like the policy should be the later...I mean, why be forced to enter in a CC number online if they have no intention of charging it... anyway, am I *** or what?

How do you get a code? Was it specifically with a gamestop preorder? Or any preorder?

 

Will people who purchase Destiny digitally off Xbox Marketplace get a beta code?

Preorder a copy from Gamestop, get the beta code, and then later cancel the preorder.

 

Sounds normal process to me, they will not charge your card in till game ships.

I have been pre-ordering online for years now and that is how it has always been. Putting your card just makes it more convenient for both sides as the payment can be taken out whenever ready.
