Gamestop closing stores

Dark, retail jobs need to be filled..... I don't know of many retailers that put employees on a "full time" basis. Most are part time. The majority of retail jobs are filled by students, although some pursue it as a career..... good on them. Retail is retail.....
low wages and short hours...

Walmart, Bestbuy, Safeway, Superstore (the list goes on)..... are all looking for employees..... Gamestop isn't the employment hub for the USA.....

 

There full times one. But I don't get kid. There adults do not work in high paying job. As I said. Because of age or medical reason. And some adults can't afford to learn the skill to have a good life. And those adults have more then one job. So they can
take care of there famliy. I think you need lived in those adults shoes. And tried take care your owned famliy only just minimal waged paid. And see if you think the same.

You're not buying a used disc as many believe. You are actually supposed to be buying a copy of the license to play the game which was included in the original cost.

It will all get sorted out once everything goes digital.

Oh, and Gamestop employees are glorified cashiers. Nothing more.

 

Pre-owned, is good for those with a little lass cash (like me lol) but with things how they are, I prefer digital. I don't know how it works out that the devs get money from digital or retail or which gets more money but regardless of the proceeds, I
think most get their moneys worth once pre-owned titles start becoming more fluent then 1st hand titles of the same game. Just my opinion there.

 

I was buying pre-owned for a while there, but now I'm just going digital. I used to buy more games and complete less of them. Now I only buy a few games because I'm more selective so I usually finish them, no matter how long it takes. I looked at my mountain
of games the other day and smh at how much money I wasted on dumb games years ago. I don't want to buy frivolously any longer. I went into a gamestop with a friend a couple days ago while we were at the mall, right after we played with all the puppies at
the pet store, and I actually walked out of the gamestop without buying anything at all. Aside from that, GS only takes the price down a couple of dollars on used vs new, so why bother?

 

With Gamestop's transition to the mobile market, I think they could see the writing on the wall. Physical sales have been going down... better to jump ship now while they're still ahead.

As for Netflix raising their prices, I think that has to do with their original programming. Sure, they set out to make quality TV shows (House of Cards), but with that quality comes actors wanting to get paid. It semi reminds me of HBO, which costs me
a pretty penny each month, but they put out some of the best shows in the business.

 

Living in NYC I have about 10 game stops with in a 10 to 15 minute walk or drive.

 

I actually heard them offer someone .75 cents on a game and the person said "huh?" and then wisely kept their game.

I live next door to a gamestop, and there's another across the street. I'm not really complaining. I like to go in a GS to browse, but I'm not finding a lot of reason to buy games there anymore.

 

Yeah Gamestop is notorious for ripping off customers. They offer you peanuts for your games and then turn around and sell them for 3 or 4 times what they paid you for it. So I have no problem with this. If they weren't such scam artists then they would be
doing more business.

 

And honestly with Kijiji and Craigslist you can find used games for cheaper than Gamestop offers. AND you can sell your games for more money through these sites than what Gamestop offers you. I saw someone post here that they heard someone get offered 75
cents for a game, that's happened to me. It's an insult really.

 

If Gamestop had offered more and sold for less, that doesn't mean they'd still be in business. All businesses know their minimum price point to function as a business, then decide how high they'll go from there, knowing if they go too high, they'll lose
business. At some point the minimum can overlap the point that's too high. Then it's just down hill from there. Businesses are dropping like flies all over the place, including Best Buys.

we will not compare a used car to a "used game" if that was the case.... if I sold my used car.. guess what.. it is USED.. had wear and tear.. will need some repairs... has miles... dents.. scratches... etc etc etc...

Now if I sold my game USED to you... to compare it correctly... you would need to start the game on the level I left off at.... game will take a few presses to start... the jump button wont work.... you get no case and or manual... but what do you get if
I sell you a game??? you get a BRAND NEW UNUSED GAME...

so enough with the used car comparisons...
