Gamesharing and reseting

As blueamcat stated, sharing account information is against the Xbox Live terms or service. However, it is strange you cannot play a game you own.

I would verify that the account is connected to xbox live. If it is, my next step would be to uninstall and reinstall the game. If you own it, you should be able to install and play it again not problem.

So my friend asked me to gameshare with him to play my game and he would play my games so we did that and just a while ago i reset my home xbox to my current xbox and I tried playing a game that
I owned before I gamshared and i says i dont own the game anymore.

First of all: Be aware that there is no "game sharing" function. You can assign a console to be your "Home Console", and that console will allow anyone to play your games. So you can share your games to your friend's console, but he can share his games to
a different console, and you won't get any games.

Just so you know that "Home Console" sharing is not "mutual game sharing".

As for your game not working: Go to
https://commerce.microsoft.com and look through your order history of that account.

If the game doesn't show up there, you didn't buy the game. Since this page also contains tax relevant purchase information, you can be sure that if a game purchase "disappears", the federal tax bureau would tear Microsoft apart until they found that purchase.
So if the game isn't there, you most likely didn't buy it with that account.

Maybe it's a Game with Gold game, and you currently don't have a Gold membership.

Or it was a free play weekend, where you were able to play the game. Or if you have the Xbox Game Pass, it might be that the game was removed from the Game Pass.

Games you buy are attached to your account. So no matter what you do with your Home Console settings, you ALWAYS have access to your purchased game, no matter what console you play on, or what console you have set as Home Console, as long as you are connected
online, so the system can check your game license status online with the list on commerce.microsoft.com

As has been suggested, this is against the terms of service and is a bannable offence.

I'd never recommend giving out your details to a friend. They then have access to your card details also etc. And, you may both lose your account.

As long as you are signed into the account that purchased the game it would not matter whether the console is set as your home console or not you should be able to play it.

If you are signed into the console that purchased the game there is a couple of reasons that you would be getting this message.

1. If the game was refunded for some reason. You can check your order history at account.microsoft.com and see what the status of the order is. If it shows as refunded then that is the reason that you can not play it.

2. If the game was a Games with Gold Xbox One game and you no longer have a gold subscription. You are required to have a Gold subscription in order to keep the Licenses for the Xbox One games with Gold.

3. If you had another subscription (EA access, Game Pass) and the game was a part of this and you downloaded it while having an active one of these subscriptions and did not purchase the game outright and no longer have one of these subscriptions you would
not have the license to play them either.
