Gameshare problems.

I want to setup game share with my brother he is buying one game and im buying one game and we will share them. My problem is i have an xbox upstairs and an xbox downstairs, will i be able to play the shared games on both my xboxes ?

Since your brother can only share to consoles, and not (your) account, you'll have to decide on which console you want to play the game the most.

Your brother can then set that one console as his Home Console and share that game to this one console.

It's not possible to share to two consoles at the same time.

And if you plan on alternating the Home Console setting between consoles, be aware that each account has a limit of 5 Home Console changes within a year. So while it is possible to change the console to which your brother is sharing to, it's not really feasible
to do with only 5 changes within 365 days.

 

Thanks for reply, but now im confused. My brother and his xbox doesnt live with me. So he will have his xbox set to home, while i will have my xbox one s downstairs set to home, everything fine.

But sometimes in the evening i use my xbox one day one edition console that is upstairs to play. I called microsoft earlier and they said i wouldnt have trouble playing on either of my xboxs because it would be linked to my gamertag/account. Obviously i
would only ever be logged in to the console im using, i wouldnt ever be logged into the upstairs and downstairs consoles at same time

 

That would mean you are not sharing any games with each other. You would have to set his console as your Home in order to share and he would have to set one of your consoles to his Home in order to share. Any games you purchase on your account can be playing
on any console as long as you are signed into Live. Any games your brother bought you can only play on his Home console.

 

Yes thankyou thats what i was thinking, so as long as i purchase the games i can play on any console im signing into and share with brother, but any purchase my brother makes i can only play on My one console

 

Now I'm confused as to what you want to achieve.

But maybe if I explain how the Xbox copy protection / DRM works, it might make it clearer to you as to what works and what your brother and you have to do to "share" your games.

Just imagine, that every game you purchase as a download is protected by two digital locks. For the game to be playable, it is sufficient if only one lock can be opened.

When you buy a game, your account gets a key to these locks which is stored online on the Xbox Live service together with your account. That way, you can go to
any console in the world, sign in with your account, and as long as you have an internet connection, your account can retrieve the online keys, unlock your games, and you can play your game on any console you want. And as
long as your account is signed in on that console, everyone else on that very console can also play your games.

Now to the second key. The one console that you set as your "Home Console" gets a copy of your account key's stored locally. That means, the
console itself is able to unlock your games for anyone playing on the console that you set as your "Home Console". This is meant for families, where for example the father bought some games, and the kids should be able to play
these games on their own accounts without having to buy multiple games for every family member, playing on one console.

So in order for your brother and you to share your games with each other, you would have to sign in on your brother's console, and in the setting set the brother's console as your "Home Console", so the brother's console gets the console keys for your games,
to unlock your games for your brother.

Of course, your brother would have to sign in on your own console, and set it as his Home Console, so your console get's your brother's second set of keys, so it can unlock your brother's games for you.

So, even with your brother's console set as your Home Console, you're still free go to your consoles upstairs, or downstairs or break into your Xbox One owning neighbors' house and on ever console you are able to play
YOUR games. However, only on the one console that your brother made the Home Console setting, you are able to play your brother's games.
