My friend and I currently game share, he bought the CODMWF2 premium edition on his Xbox X but it doesn’t let me download the same version or play together!

Is there any way around this without me having to pay out for another version of the game?

Game sharing with those not living in your physical household is a violation of TOS and can lead to account and hardware bans.

As long as you purchase the digital version of the game, then it doesn't matter if you purchase on Xbox One or Windows 10, you will still be able to share the game to your friend via the game sharing.(home Xbox)

i was able to play xbox play anywhere tittles from game pass on both pc and xbox

It shows I own the game and even though I own the cross gen I’ve bought the cross gen upgrade to but it still asks me to purchase it .
