    Games won't start if there is a download in progress


    There is a long standing Xbox One error that Microsoft refuses to fix. The bug occurs every time I try to play a game and I have a download or update happening in the background.the game crashes and I get the error code - game took too long to load.

    I am using all games on my internal hard drive and all games are digital downloads from Xbox store. It happens EVERY TIME there is a download in progress and I switch and try to play a game. I fix the problem by stopping to download in progress and then
    restarting the Xbox (if I don't stop the download the problem still exists after restarting.)

    This problem is hinted at in posts going back more than 12 months, but no-one has explicitly identified it. It is vital that this bug is addressed as it makes the Xbox One S look buggy and it is a painful user experience.

    I appreciate every effort to fix this ongoing problem.

    Hi there stefsxo16, thanks for reaching out.

    On your Xbox One console, let's have you try going to Settings>Storage>Clear local Xbox 360 storage. Start up a backward compatible game and then re-download your profile. However, it's worth noting if you have made a lot of progress in LEGO Batman already,
    you won't want to try this step as this can clear your local game save if your progress wasn't being saved to the cloud automatically.

    Anything you download can be redownloaded from the Ready to Install section of your Games and Apps. Game progress is saved separate from game data, so deleting a game won't cause you to lose progress.

    You may also try performing a factory reset on your console.

    While doing so, you can choose an option to keep your games & apps.

    Simply re-download your XBL profile and start up the game! Your game progress will sync with the cloud upon starting the game and you won't lose any of your previous progress.
