    Games won't install/move to external hard drive


    I recently had a few updates for games come through, a couple of 50gb updates that I presume were One X 4k related as well as one for Rocket League, all going to an external 2tb Seagate Game Drive where I store all my games. After the 50gb updates were done
    the update for Rocket League refused to download. It had got through about 1.3gb out of 10gb and it would refuse to move. I would select "install again" and 5 seconds later it would stop and I would get a system notification saying "installation stopped".
    So I uninstalled the game and tried redownloading it from the store but that wouldn't work either. It wouldn't even download a kilobyte before stopping the installation. I then swapped the install location from my external hard drive to the internal one and
    that worked just fine, and once done the game played as normal. I also checked my other digital games and all of them worked apart from Minecraft which refused to launch. I uninstalled it and like Rocket League it would refuse to download unless it was installing
    to my internal hard drive, then it would work as normal. Now that I had both games downloaded and working I tried transferring them back to my external hard drive but none of them would want to move, like the downloading phase they would just instantly fail.
    I can still download other games to my external hard drive and transfer games to and from the external to the internal then back to the external again, but only Minecraft and Rocket League refuse to work. Why is that? I am completely stuck, and as the Xbox
    Support twitter no longer provides support as it used to I am not sure how I can get an official answer as to what my problem is

    Need help and advise

    Get yourself an external hard drive and either move your games to that or set it up so any future game installs is stored on the drive.

    X1 HDD options?

    Buy an external hard drive. It must be USB 3.0 and a minimum size of 256GB. The maximum is 16TB. You can install your games to the external and move games and off your internal to the external drive.

    Is the game installed on the internal hard drive or an external USB drive?

    If it's on an external drive, try to move the game to the internal drive and vice versa (if you have an USB3 compliant USB hard drive available).

    Does that improve the situation?

    Hey ShinobiSword,

    i noticed you have an external hard drive in use with your console, are the games that are crashing installed on your internal or external hard drive?

    if they are on the external drive it may be worth trying to move the install of the game to your internal drive and having another go.

    I have heard of situations like that before on external hard drives so have to ask if the games installed on the internal or external hard drive at all?. If so try moving it over to the internal hard drive.

    I moved my games from the internal hard drive to the external hard drive to see if my games won't kick me to the dashboard I tried it yesterday with a external hard drive I had never used for my Xbox. My games were never on the external hard drive they
